Ask the woman with stage 4 colon cancer! [update - Maggie has passed away]

Her last activity on the board was a week or so ago. She’s been much on my mind as a co-worker’s husband is dealing with colon cancer as well (and is not doing well).

RIP, she has passed away:

I was just going to post this, since I got the notification for the Go Fund Me donation I’d made before. Farewell, Maggie.

So, so sorry to hear this. May her loved ones find peace in knowing her suffering is over.

She really showed the Dopers how to fight the good fight.

Rest in peace, Maggie.

Rest in peace, Maggie.

RIP. I didn’t know her well, but she was a great poster.

:frowning:

No words, just tears right now.
Thanks for letting us know.

may her memory be eternal.

RIP.

I had my first colonoscopy in 2015 as a direct result of this thread.

R.I.P. Maggie, and thank you for sharing your story to inspire and encourage others.

Geez, Maggie, that really bites.

I do have a distant friend (quite distant, she lives in the Netherlands) who took years to win this fight. She was at death’s door many times but kept fighting. She is now a spokesperson for those who have 'ostomy bags (she’s got three). She is as tough and determined as they come. But it hadn’t gotten to her lungs (liver yes). I don’t know where she found the energy to fight as hard as she did, but she made it, and is still being closely watched medically of course.

Strength training is the only thing I know to recommend. You might want to consider surgery for some of it. My mother had part of a lung removed (wandering breast cancer) and that prolonged her life by a year or two, but each case is different as you know.

You’ve got a whole heckuva lot on your plate right now so please focus on what is most important to you and yours. I wish you the best of what you choose for your life.

Godspeed, Maggie.

You might want to read some of the recent previous posts above you. I think you may have missed something.

Never saw this until today. Started at page 1 maybe 20 minutes ago. Shitfuckdamncrap.

Sorry I never knew ye, Maggie. Seems you were one of the good ones.

For anyone and everyone in (or near) a similar situation: Fuck Cancer. Stay Strong.

Rest In Peace, Maggie.

Sorry to hear. RIP Maggie.
