Yeah, that is not just "Mis-gendering". It is not like calling the spouse “she” when their preferred is “he” which can easily be a honest mistake. That is deliberate.

I have it on good authority that if enough of the Hive Mind reports somebody, the mods are required by Hive Law to give a warning.

I would like to say that we sometimes get mixed messages on reporting though.

MODs: Should we always report problem posts or should we assume that posts that are under discussion in a thread have been seen and will be acted on? (reported for visibility)

If you see something problematic, report it. Dealing with the reports themselves isn’t difficult-- It’s literally a single click for each reported post (even if the post has multiple reports). Dealing with the issue behind a report can be difficult sometimes, but it’s not made any more difficult by the number of reports (unless the number of reports is zero and so we don’t know about the issue at all).

I am sure other numbers of reports would cause problems, too. -1 reports would make you wonder what was going on, infinity reports would crash the system, and pi reports would just be annoying, because you would like reports to at least make an effort at being rational.

@ECG is not available this week for personal reasons, however, the rest of the mods discussed this, and we feel the violation is straightforward enough that we don’t need to wait for his return to act on it. This is in your series of 16 posts in this thread
