I can’t seem to find much info on why they’re called assasin bugs , or their habits.
I have found 6 or 7 in my house in the last week or so, and wonder if I should ignore them or what.
Till then, I’m sorry to have to ax them.

In Texas and the southwest, these are called “Conenose” bugs or beetles. You might try searching on that. Examples:
