Chapters 12 and 13 are supposedly upcoming in a DS spinoff or somesuch. Not sure if the courier thing is a bug or not though, I’ll check mine some time tomorrow and get back to you, I have all the feathers so maybe that will tell us something.
Yeah, Ubi is beyond milking the “one game for the price of two (three, sixteen)” concept. Not that the games themselves aren’t worth it, but teasing you with it is getting old.
My problem is that they’re marginally tied to the game. In the original the Flags were obviously just padding achievement bullshit. Nobody really mentioned them and they didn’t trigger any cutscenes or anything. I’m fine at not getting it if they’re literally just there, but the presence of a small congratulatory cutscene, a useless item, whatever makes me compulsively do it. This is HELL with JRPGs, like Tales of Vesperia, I shut down and have to restart it soon because I missed scanning three Lost Forever entries in the arena, if it was just some mob info that went in the book… meh, I’d live, but it triggers a tiny, insignificant cutscene that at least partially reconciles the relationship between two characters if you complete it so I had to do it because I didn’t want any loose ends.
At least Assassin’s Creed 2 has the decency to not have any lost forever items…
I just discovered over the holiday that you can’t go back and relive memories like you could in AC1. Now there’s an “Unknown Location” or something in Rome which I can’t get unless I play the entire game over again to the end. I love this game, but damn, that’s a kick in the balls, Ubisoft.
Yup, same here. But in AC’s case, when the game was just out, and there weren’t any guides or FAQs for it yet, how was I to know that the flags, they do nothing ?
Frankly, I was shocked that they didn’t. It was as if Ubi had broken a sacred covenant between publisher and player : thou willt complete thy bullshite task for a shiny ! There’s always something at the end of those annoying collection quests. Usually something powerful or cool, too, be it a powerful item, or alternate costumes… Here, zilch, nada, nothing. Not even sure there was an Xbox achievement for them. Just pure, kick in the 'nads and spit on your crumpled body waste of time. Ah well, at least the vistas were cool.
Wow. I just completed the game. I’m now going back to get the feathers. I’m having a blast. I really didn’t think I’d like this game. If you ask me comparing this to GTA is like comparing Doom to Wolfenstein.
My only complaint is probably my own fault But I felt like the jumping in a lot of situations was limited to 90 degree angles. It was frustrating to me to want to ‘jump forward but slightly to the left’ for example.
I have a solution that I think games with hidden packages/feathers/flags should use. Include a way to find a map to those locations. i.e. If I collect all the treasures, allow me to buy a feather map.
I can tell you this much… if I get to the end of my feather map walk thru, and only have 99 feathers I’m going to be PISSED. I have a fear of this because I picked up about 30 of the feathers during my normal game play, so now when I get the feathers, I have to expect 1 in three to not be there. I just KNOW I’m going to miss one of them. Then What?
I just beat the game. I am so confused about the whole ‘Truth’ thing once I got those puzzles. What the hell was that video about?
A couple of annoying missions and I hated those minstrels, but overall I loved the game and can’t wait for the next one. I especially loved the colors and vibrancy in this one.
My only really complaint were the puzzles. It seems too me that some of them just didn’t make any sense, but I guess that’s what the internet is for.
They stole the Apple of Eden (the Bible never mentioned an apple, BTW) from the powers that be who ruled an industrial and technologically advanced civilization (which was no doubt “Eden”). It essentially is about the fall of man from an advanced civilization. As to who the rulers of Eden were, it could have been those who were of Minerva’s ilk, or it could have been the group that eventually became the Templars, in which case Adam and Eve would probably have been the first Assassins.
Just wanted to say I’ve been playing the game for a week or so, and just got to try this last night. It’s definitely worth the price of the game alone. As an added bonus, loot the bodies afterwards and you get some old Italian crones cursing at you.
I loved Assassin’s Creed 2 so much that I went back and finally completed Assassin’s Creed 1. I’m looking forward to the next (hopefully final) game. I don’t know how they’re going to conclude the story, seeing as how the enemy clearly have lots of guns, without turning it in to a more slow paced game. It’ll be fun to find out though.
Completing AC1 and 2 has awoken something inside me. Although I still prefer my PC, I’ve finally opened my eyes to notice just how fun some Xbox games are. I have a stack of RPGs on the Xbox that I might finally play though. I’ve also become an achievement whore, to my shame. No way I’m getting the Pt achievement in Prototype though…
They’re definitely the precursors that they escaped from. The secret report puzzle things imply that Cain was the Ur-Templar, so the Assassins probably came from another line around then (Abel or the guy with an S name I can’t remember). The main difference between the two seems to be that the Assassins want humanity to make their own way, free from the “god”'s technology which originated as slavery, while the Templar wanted to apply the technology to further humanity.
That last part of the paragraph is just my view of it though, there’s about as many theories as people.
So I’m just about to start Sequence 14. I’ve got everything else done except the feathers. Can anyone confirm for me whether or not I can complete 14 and then go back and finish the feathers? I’m not even sure I want to, but there are 2 achievements that are based on them (collect all feathers and auditore cape in all cities), and I’d hate to decide later to finish them and find out I’ve got to play the whole game over again to do so.
Yeah, finding ways to take out civilians without getting that pesky warning is great fun. I was especially pleased when I found out you could grab the minstrels, head but them a few times, then after they fall to the ground you can kick them in the balls. My daughters were in hysterics when I showed them that.
So I finished the game 2 nights ago. W. T. F. indeed. Does set up the next game nicely though.
BTW, while searching for feather maps online (I only need those 2 achievements to complete all of them, which I’ve only ever done in Bioshock), I found an article indicating that it’s possible to knock over civilians with brooms, rakes, or fishing rods, then pick it up and use it as a weapon. Which is even funnier than the “poison a guard and throw some coins trick”. Beating a guard to death with a broom while screeching “Why don’t you ever take out the trash!” is just hysterical.
After you finish the game you can also go back and complete all of your trophies (if you’re on PS3) except ONE! There is a trophy for kicking guards while utilizing a flying machine. If you don’t do that during normal game play you can’t get that trophy without starting a new game. THAT’S THE ONLY TROPHY I DON’T HAVE!:smack::smack:
Have you taken any training at your Villa? There are some advanced training that you don’t get in the normal game play. One of the training sessions is how to sweep people off their feet with a long staff .
