Assemble a band made up of musicians who were born on your birthday

November 20:

“The Twenty Something Band”

Joe Walsh - Guitar, vocals

Dierks Bentley - Guitar, vocals

Duane Allman - Guitar, vocals

Gail Ann Dorsey - Bass (David Bowie band)

Mike D (Beastie Boys) - Drums, Vocals

Richard Dawson - Road manager

Bo Derek - Groupie

Nov. 12th

Neil Young - guitar/vocals.

That’s it. Because Neil Fucking Young.

Today, 5 April, is my birthday:

Lead Vocals: Pharrell Williams (the Neptunes/solo artist) and Agentha Faltskog (Abba)
Drummer: Dave Holland (Judas Priest)
Guitar: Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)
Manager/roadie/bodyguard: Peter Grant (Led Zeppelin)

Couldn’t find a bassist, but I think that’s pretty solid.

The only two that I recognized from my birthday (Feb, 19th) are: (OK, I also recognized Seal, but I don’t want him in my band)
Smokey Robinson
Tony Iommi - Black Sabbath Guitarist

In that case, for February 21:

Nina Simone, vocals, a capella.

October 20

Snoop Dogg as my rapper
Dannii Minogue on vocals
Lepa Brena on vocals
Franco Ventriglia on vocals
Dunja Vejzović on vocals
Tom Petty on guitar and vocals
Martin Taylor on guitar
Mark King on bass
Paul Wilson on bass
Gary Jarman on bass
Grandpa Jones on banjo and vocals
Ruhi Su on Bağlama
Koichi Kawanishi on drums
Ole Hamre on drums
Audun Kleive on drums
Fred Coury on drums
Al Greenwood on keyboard
Jelly Roll Morton on piano
Wanda Jackson on piano and guitar
Aleksander Maaker on bagpipes
Bill Chase on trumpet
Eddie Harris on saxophone

My composers:
Robert Craft
Steve Orich
Thomas Newman
Dave Wang

On my birthday, there are a whole bunch of people that are claimed to be musicians, but only one of them I have ever heard of, much less heard.

But, among actors, there are a number of reasonably well known ones: Henry Fonda, Danny Trejo, Megan Fox (for some definitions of “actor”), and George Gaynes.

August 21. Count Basie would be the foundation.

Although Kenny Rogers and Joe Strummer would probably end up fighting, so the tour would be cancelled.

June 2

Jewel Staite vocals- because she is adorable and apparently sings a little
Marvin Hamlisch piano
Charlie Watts drums

And to round out the band since there are no other real musicians I’ve heard of:

Stacy Keach lead guitar
Morena Baccarin rhythm guitar
Beetlejuice bass
And Jerry Mathers as the Beaver

April 2
Some rappers I’ve never heard of. Decent vocals with Marvin Gaye and Emmy Lou Harris.

I also have Buddy Ebsen and Rodney King - can’t beat that…

Good grief - my birthday (May 11) produces a weird cacophony of sounds and styles that would be completely unlistenable. The list includes:

Eric Burdon, vocalist (most known for the Animals)
Greg Dulli, vocalist (most known for the Afghan Whigs)
A group of 20-something rappers I’ve never heard of
Mike LeDonne, jazz pianist
Julian Joseph, jazz pianist
Christoph Schneider, drummer (most known for Rammstein)
Butch Trucks, drummer (most known for Allman Bros.)

The mind absolutely boggles.

Hmm. The February 4th Band is a little skimpy on instrumentalists, but we’ve got some singers:

Natalie Imbruglia - vocals
Gavin DeGraw - ditto
Clint Black - vocals and guitar
John Steel, The Animals - drums
Florence LaRue, The Fifth Dimension - yet more vocals

Pretty decent, right? Now for the big guns:

Opening act - Dara Ó Briain
Chief of Band Security - Oscar de la Hoya
Video Director - George Romero
Tour Logistics, Facilities Management - the USO
Vocals, songwriting, general rock-god duties - Alice Freakin’ Cooper

That alone wins the thread.

As for the March 11th line-up?

Opening Act Comedian: Johnny Knoxville

Vocals – Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), LeToya Luckett (the other Destiny’s Child that got away), Gudda Gudda (rapper) and Bobby McFerrin

Guitarist: Benji Madden

Drummer: Vinnie Paul (Pantera)

Orchestrator: Lawrence Welk

Model Groupie: Poonam Pandey

Biographer: Douglas Adams

Financier: Rupert Murdoch

Famous-by-Association Hanger-On: Austin Swift (Taylor’s brother, angling for a collaboration)

*Bonus Celebrities who Think They Can “Do Music”: Terrence Howard (ugh) and Anton Yelchin (ugh X 2) and Anthony Davis (basketball player)

Excellent use of your resources. He could also be listed as Tour Towel Holder.

Nov 1

Anthony Kiedis on vocals
Mike Ayley on bass
Rick Allen on drums
Lyle Lovett on guitar and vocals

Let’s see. I’ve got Chas Chandler of the Animals on bass and Keith Richards, Bill Nelson (of Be-Bop Deluxe) and Elliot Easton of the Cars on guitar. I’m short a drummer.

Unfortunately, I’ve also got Josef Stalin, who probably would have sent everyone I mentioned to the gulags.

June 10:
Kim Deal, bass and vocals
Kelley Deal, guitar and vocals
Jimmy Chamberlain (Smashing Pumpkins), drums
Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing), vocals

I dunno; I’d probably buy a ticket to see them.

March 25

Elton John - Vocals and piano
Aretha Franklin - Vocals
Jeff Healey - Guitar
Frank Ferrer - Drums (currently with Guns and Roses, formerly with the Psychedelic Furs)
Ryan Lewis - DJ and producer

Could also get Bela Bartok to compose and Arturo Toscanni to conduct if we could find an orchestra.

Y’all’re gonna wanna be there. If only for the spectacle:

Bon Scott and Courtney Love. And we’ve got OJ Simpson in the audience.

December 31 (New Year’s Rockin’ Eve!):

Vocals/guitar: Paul Westerberg (The Replacements)
Lead guitar: Andy Summers (The Police)
Bassist: Tom Hamilton (Aerosmith)
Drummer: Mani Neumeier (Guru Guru, a Krautrock band that’s not one of the few I’ve heard of)

The opening act/affront to music:

Vocals: Donna Summer
Acoustic guitar: John Denver
Electric guitar: Scott Ian (Anthrax)
Keyboards: Burton Cummings (The Guess Who)
Backing vocals: Joey McIntyre (New Kids on the Block)
Programming: PSY
