Assholes with guns in my 'hood

Maybe it is time to shitcan the poorly written, outdated second amendment.

And restaurant owners can tell folks to leave if they have a gun in their establishment, gun ownership is not a protected class.

This is one of many situations that could best be handled by simple courtesy.

The irony would be just too rich if one of the “good-guys with a gun” popped one of these point-makers, assuming they were a Wayne LaPierre designated “bad-guy with a gun.”

Yeah, these guys were just pushing people’s buttons and doing more harm than good to the cause of responsible gun ownership and use.

If they were on their way to the range to target shoot or on a hunting trip, fine. If they felt that Portland is a dangerous place and they needed to be packing, ok but, these two guys have concealed weapons permits and could have been carrying guns without scaring anyone.

Pretty dickish move to go to an area with the sole intention of using your rights to alarm people who are not used to seeing guns.

I live in a rural area of Oregon where Cabelas camo is apparently the standard dress code and walking into a store with guns, at least in hunting season, would not cause even a raised eyebrow. Hell, the local high school scholarship foundation auctioned off guns right in the school gym last year during the annual dinner, including a pink AK-47.

But this was clearly an effort to confront and alarm in an area where open carry is not appropriate.

It’s no big deal to see a gun? I can accept that in certain parts of the country. Certainly not where I live, but whatever.

Is it a big deal to see a guy with an AR-15 and a sidearm walking towards a school? I can’t imagine any neighborhood where that’s normal behavior.

What would you do in that situation? Are these guys trying to condition us not to call the cops when we see two out-of-place guys in trenchcoats with 2 AR-15s and 2 handguns walking around a subdivision?

Hey man - Sellwood is a dangerous place. I’m afraid to even walk around there.

These fellas should get their pictures in the paper, side by side. The caption should read ‘Local Boob’.

Well there you go again. In your hyper-partisan zeal to make a point about the Second Amendment, you “conveniently” overlook the First. If he’s going to walk around with his Human Comedy exposed, that’s his prerogative and none of you nutters are can legally stop him.

What, conditioning bystanders to just take shouldered weapons as the new normal is considered some sort of cause to fight for, now? Bugger that. We actually had a few asshats working that angle locally, and it appears they got the attention they craved - although the outcome probably wasn’t to their liking:

This is of course going to be an embuggerance for those who just want to sling their rifle as they walk to the gunsmith etc., but they have only the attention whore “activists” to thank for that.

We just had a case in Oregon of a guy with a CCW leaving a pistol in a movie theater with the safety off and a chambered round. Kid found it and alerted the police who alerted the police. I could easily see a less sensible kid pick it up, assume it was a toy, and pull the trigger. Funniest thing was the guy came back in later asking if they had a gun in lost and found.

“Sorry sir, can you be more specific? People leave guns behind all the time”.

You people who think we would be better off if we walked around with guns all the time just astound me. I can’t even imagine the mindset.

At least if someone attacks me with his ballsack I can pretty much guarantee he’ll come out of it worse than I will.

I don’t see why. Carrying guns to the gunsmith isn’t the same as carrying them to protest gun laws, and it’s only the latter which has been prohibited, correct?

So your complaint is that two guys exercised their constitutional rights without breaking any laws or harming anyone?

I think it’s alarming when people like you vote, but if someone called 911 to report it and diverted resources from actual emergencies I don’t think that frivolous call would be your fault, it would be theirs.

I imagine this is how the discussion would roll in Dodge City, Kansas cca. 1878.

But in 2013? That’s eff’d up…

I’m not touching you ! I’m not touching you !

Get it ? Got it ? Good.

Braggart.

You really aren’t very bright, are you?

Try again. Visualize the initial attack.

Hey, Rhythmdvl? If you’re taking the time to read the Paterno thread, you’re not really on solid ground complaining about being bored by it.

Just sayin’.

No. The latter is only being declared to be an act of pure asswipery, not prohibited.

IOW, what spinky said.
