astro, a request: stop copying links from FARK

I’d hit it.

I’d tap it.

And then I’d slap TheR for this perfectly incomprehensible post

You know what? I actually was only thinking about the Pit and didn’t even realize it. You are completely correct that comparing the overall tone and intelligence of conversations over there to those here is completely asinine. Consider my head bashed repeatedly on my desk.

As far as the wading through…as soon as my brain sees “unintelligable crap,” my eyes automatically skip the post, so I barely even notice them. That’s probably a good part of why I made my earlier, comPLETEly inaccurate comparison.

Why? Why should he attribute it? Fark doesn’t make their users attribute despite the fact that many of the links are ones I’ve seen previously in other places. Should they ask their submitters to attribute?

Which word didn’t you understand?

This thread is out of control.

This part:

???

Yahoo is Yahoo is Yahoo - main page or otherwise. They’re getting their traffic.

This is probably the dumbest argument I’ve seen all day. And I spend all day chatting with my LUG on IRC, so I know dumb arguments when I see them.

If I go to the library and check out a book, read it, and recommend it to my friend, I don’t feel the least bit compelled to say, “Yeah, read ‘As The Tide Rises, The Moon Sinks Below The Horizon, In January,’ which I found in Paterno Library via their card catalog.” Now, the people at the library went through a whole lot of trouble to acquire and catalog the books, but I don’t think there’s a person on the board who doesn’t think I’d be right to just recommend the book by title. A link is exactly the same. No matter how you find it, the only thing that’s really relevant is the content.

You’re right A link is just fine. However, posting the entire library catalogue without giving them credit for the hard work they’ve done is not fine.
