I upgraded my mom’s laptop to Windows 10 a few weeks ago, and it worked fine. But about 5 days ago, the internet stopped working on it. The Wifi in the house is still fine, other devices still use it, but I reset the router anyway. I also tried connecting the laptop directly to the router to see if it was just the Wifi that wasn’t working, but still no good.
Under Network Connections, it shows strong signal quality, but under Wifi status it says “No network access”. I turned Windows Firewall off, but that wasn’t it. The Asus site doesn’t even list any wireless drivers for Windows 10, so I can’t try a new driver.
I also say online someone said turning off Window’s ability to turn the network adapter off worked for them, but no luck.
Did you try right clicking on the wireless icon and going through the troubleshooter?
Whenever I get an issue like the internet saying “limited or not connectivity” or “no network access”, I right click the wireless icon (in the taskbar) and it says “Troubleshoot problems” (certainly in Windows 7). It then finds any problems and resolves them.
edit: It also has the same troubleshooting method under Windows 10 (I have just checked). Right click on the wireless icon and run the troubleshooter, and see what that does.
I have one also, and for some reason it does not want to connect to wifi when I am logged in. However - if you log out and get to the select user page, you should see the wifi symbol on the lower right. Try connecting using that. It works for me.
I’ve seen that error when there’s an assigned IP address that is invalid. I would also think a bad proxy might do it–which would suggest malware.
Anyways, check all those settings. And if you can’t find anything, try actually assigning a valid IP address–one really high up that won’t be assigned automatically. See if that gets her back on.
