AT&T store or Apple online?

I apologize in advance for my stupidity.

I put my iphone on top of my car for a minute to run back into the house. Now it is gone. (No, not stolen.) It must have fallen off the car when I was driving. I have looked everywhere, driven my route, walked my route, biked my route.

I called AT&T and had the phone deactivated. (No, the GPS was not turned on so we couldn’t find it that way.)

Question: Should I go to the AT&T store and get a new phone or should I go onto the AT&T website and have them send me a phone?

The thread probably belongs in IMHO, but I think if you can wait about a month, you should do so, as Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone on September 10. Even if you don’t want the latest and greatest phone, enough people will that you should be able to get a good price on an older used phone, or Apple will discount the existing models.

Thank you very much.

Best Buy has already discounted the iPhone $50. But if the OP can hold off until Sept 10th, like you said, she can either pick up a new or used 4S or 5 much cheaper.

When I needed to replace my iPhone 3GS about a year ago trying to use the AT&T website to order a replacement was next to impossible - there were several drop-down options that just didn’t work. AT&T’s recommended fix was to go to the AT&T store in person to order my new 4S. Instead I ordered through the apple website which worked flawlessly.

It’s been my experience that it makes little difference which you choose because they are both essentially the exact same thing. The only advantage would be if you go to the at&t store they may have an actual replacement unit there in stock. Otherwise one of the salespeople is just going to order it from the at&t site same as you can…

Since the thread is looking for opinions, I’ve moved it from GQ to IMHO.
