Is it OK to use the figurative meaning of foxhole? I know I have heard it used such a way in church services.

With hope of cutting off this hijack, b is contrary to John 19:6, which shows Jesus was found not guilty. Yes there is more to this but at the request of the Mod start a new thread and we can talk about it.
John 19:6 leads into John 19:7 – "Therefore, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, ‘Crucify Him, crucify Him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘You take Him and crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.’ The Jews answered him, ‘We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.’ And, in hopes of bringing this back on-topic, this meant that Jesus soon found himself in a figurative foxhole and promptly asked why God had forsaken him.
People are irrational, we all are. Haven’t you ever cursed at a malfunctioning machine? Intellectually we know it’s pointless, but it lets out steam. If I’m in great danger and say “God, get me out of this,” it not only doesn’t prove anything about the actual existence of a God, it doesn’t even prove anything about my own real beliefs.
