Athletes, rock stars and urination.

Where do football/basketball/baseball players use the bathroom if they need to go? I would think at least at the Major League level that there is a toilet in the dugout, but in the NBA and the NFL, the players sit on the sideline. Players tend to drink a lot of Gatorade and water, and a 1/2 of football or a 1/2 of basketball takes about an hour to play including time outs and what have you. This can also especially apply to referees in all sports. Are there substitute referees?

What about rock stars on stage? How do they stay hydrated without having to go in a 2 hour concert performance?

Then we have to consider number 2. If one does not want to do number 1 for a specific period of time, don’t drink excessive fluid. What does one have to do so they dont poop for a specific period?

GRADY

NBA and NHL players have to find time to go back to the locker room. I have heard stories that NFL players (like backup QBs and kickers) who are not very active and not perspiring, just use nature with proper shielding.

Most refs are sweating up a storm. If they are having intestinal trouble, they probably phone in sick. Or take industrial strength Immodium.

What do you think the drum solos are for?

Seriously, in any situation that requires strenuous activity for long periods of time, it’s DEhydration that’s a bigger problem. I’ve been in mosh pits for several hours, and never felt the urge to urinate all that time – I just sweated it out.

Plus, most professional athletes/rock stars know well enough to visit the potty before entering the arena.

I played in a touring rock band for a few years. You go to the toilet before you go onstage. There is no safety net.

An aside: I was just wondering the same thing about NASCAR drivers last week. There is no halftime, no intermission, no opportunity to disappear for a quick call on line one or two. These races go on for hours and hours. How do THEY do it?

The stadiumpal ?

As for NASCAR and other long races, I thought I had heard somewhere that they spend the couple of days (or week) leading up to the race monitoring what the eat, when the go to the bathroom etc… That way they can have it all timed just right on game day.

Well, here’s a solution

I assume we are talking about men, who take great pride in their ability to hold it in. I can get in the car and take a 4 or 5 hour drive and not need a rest break, the missus wants to stop every half hour it seems. These guys have been suiting up for years and their bodily habits are trained along with their other sporting abilities.
