Athlete's toe?

For a good long time now, I’ve had an itchy toe. By “good long time”, I mean several years–not sure how many. Maybe 5 or more. But it’s one toe–the second on my right foot, on the underside of the toe. It’s not any of the other toes (sometimes it does feel like the third is involved as well, but it’s hard to precisely localize toe-itch), it’s not any other part of the toe (maybe sometimes a bit on the side). I’ve generally speaking just put up with it, but for whatever reason, it is well and truly starting to get on my nerves.

So. Can this be athlete’s foot? There are no other symptoms than the itch–no cracking burning whatever. Just one itchy toe.

This should be removed to IMHO forum, as it is a medical question. But you really should see a podiatrist or internist, who can adequately diagnose your condition. IMHO, it could be athlete’s foot.

Since birth my right foot has been plagued with ugly, cracking dry skin. After high the soles of my feet got better, but my toes still have terrible dry skin. Doctor basically said she didn’t know, but wasn’t worried about it.

Not diagnosing your condition, or offering any kind of medical advice. But two things that can help in my experience are exposing the foot to the air (sandals rather than socks and shoes) and paddling or swimming in the sea.

Get some athlete’s foot spray and treat it as directed. If it goes away, you have an answer. If it doesn’t, you have a better question for a dermatologist.
