I know we just had a Dopefest. Which I was supposed to attend and missed…for reasons I’d prefer not to go into as it would make me sound not-so-smart.
I’m leaving Atlanta at the end of the month to move to South Georgia to be closer to my family. I was talking with Opalcat this morning and she suggested that we have a Farewell Jaade Dopefest.
Anyone going to be available over the next few weekends? I was supposed to leave at the end of the month but it looks like my current employer is pushing for me to stay until May 15th.

I’ll tentatively say that I can be there if it is done on a Saturday evening. Someone pick a time and place so that I can let my lovely wife know where I’ll be dragging her off to this time. She had a great time at the last one, but it still wasn’t enough to get her here reading the board. Oh well, maybe some day she will join us.
I’ll go ahead and set the date firmly for the 30th, that way everyone can kinda gauge their schedule now.
As I’ve really only been here 6 months, I don’t really know where the good meeting places are. Geobabe, you’ve picked the location for the last two haven’t you? Mind picking the location this time?
Heh! I’ve only been here a year myself–guess I’ve just had more opportunities to meet people for dinner in town.
Lemme ponder on this…any special requests? I’ll look for someplace near a MARTA station in case we have any non-drivers. Any parts of town better or worse for anybody?
Fiver - ~blushes~ Geobabe, I’m not really all that picky, somewhere in the middle of town or close to a MARTA place would be great. I’m coming from the Marietta area.

The 30th works for me so far. I’m coming from (north of) the Marietta area myself. As long as its not on the south side of Atlanta, I can probably stand the drive.
How about this place? It’s only a couple blocks from the Edgewood / Candler Park MARTA station, vegetarian-friendly, and Citysearch tells me it’s good for groups. The menu sounds pretty darn good, though it might be a little pricey if anybody’s on a serious budget. Thoughts?
Asada, the place Geobabe linked to, replaced a Mexican restaurant called Gringo’s that failed a year or two back. Just a fun fact.
I’ve never been to Asada, so I can’t vouch for its quality, but I’m keen to try it out. And it’s just two miles from my house. I’m very much up for this.
Too, it should be pretty easy to find for newcomers to the Atlanta area like Opalcat.
I would love to go to the dopefest, I’ve never been to one, however y’all always pick dates I’m not available! I’m moving this weekend. I normally don’t hang out in MPSIMS, I’m more of a GQ and CS guy myself. If someone could please PM me when the next Atlanta Dopefest is being scheduled I would be very grateful.
Turns out that is a very bad day for us. We’re going to be in Athens for Twilight. We’re going up the night before and won’t be home until well after the Doper festivities are over.
We’ve been planning this for a long time, and it only happens once a year. Sorry I’ll miss it!
