Atlanta golf courses?

Hi all,

Buddy of mine is moving to Atlanta, Georgia. As a going-away gift, a few of us are pitching in for a green fee gift certificate for him & his wife. I know nothing about the golf courses in Atlanta. Any suggestions? Bonus points if it’s close to Emory University.

I don’t golf but know a couple folks who do. Are you looking for a high-end, or a simple public course?

Stone Mountain Golf Club would be a pretty good choice.
It’s on the same side (East) of metro Atlanta that Emory is (about 10 miles farther out). It’s a nice, well thought of course (Robert Trent Jones, I believe) and it’s located at Stone Mountain Park which is a pretty major attraction in the area. Not sure if the park fee is included or separate but a season pass to the park is a must have anyway.

Southland is near Stone Mountain and is supposed to be good in the $50 range.
Also, River’s Edge is around a 30 minute drive but according to my friend it is a very nice course in that price range.
