Atlas websites

I recently came across a cool site that shows a map of Europe at the time of the Roman Empire
and also at increments of 100 years up to the present, so you can see how countries and Empires
came and went.

Does anybody know of any sites that does something similar for other parts of the world
(e.g. Asia, South America)

thanks!

I just found this site a few days ago. On the left side navigation panel, there are historical maps for many regions. I haven’t had time to check them all out, but the site is really cool.

Nice finds.

Related to this, I’m wondering if there are any sites that show what the world would have look like in a given geologic era. You can get maps that show how the continents fit together at various points in continental drift, rifting, and suturing, and maps that show individual continents’ areas of transgression and regression, but nothing that gives the big picture – the emergent portions of South America, Antarctica, India, Africa, and Australia joined to create a Gondwanaland with the areas that were submerged shown as shallow ocean, and such.

cool site, cheers!
