"Attacking me is attacking the Black Church..." Rev Wright is Dee...

… the bratty little sister in the sitcom WHAT’S HAPPENING.

Her big brother Rog would get (usually justifiably) angry at her & yell or complain or threaten, and she’d respond something like this…

“I’m our Momma’s daughter, her sp’ittin’ image. When you talk to me like that, it’s like your talkin’ to our Momma like that! Momma, you gonna let Rog talk to you like that?”

Thus is Rev. Wright’s performance at the NPC yesterday- “My style & message is the style & message of the Black Church. You attack what I say, you attack the message of the Black Church! You gonna put up with that, Black Church?”

I hate Mike Savage but I caught a snippet last night that actually nailed it- he looks like a Dad who can’t stand to see his son surpass him & so moves to undercut him. And it appears that Bill Clinton’s the same way in his wife’s campaign.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Link?

Having said that, Shirley Hemphill is a comic genius.

It’s my impression that Wright thinks that he’s adequitely distanced himself from Obama or vice versa, and is now just lolling about in the media attention for his own personal gain and advancement of his own agenda. For every 10 people who get turned off by his message, one or two will agree and swell the attendance at his church. This is just his 15 minutes. Next year nobody will give two hoots about Rev. Wright anymore.

L’Église c’est moi, motherFUCKER!” <BLAM>

And you will know my name is the LORD when I lay my vengeance upon thee, McCain!

Except for Barack Obama if he’s NOT President.

Well yes, except for that. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Rev’s an enormous drama queen.

One swirling, cafe au lait pot of vanity, bad temper, and attention whoring.

How Obama could have gotten so close to such a piece of work is anybody’s guess.

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and I can tell you exactly why Obama got mixed up with this guy. Because if you want to get anywhere in Chicago politics, the first thing you need to do is join a church. The biggest church you can find. Think about it. That church has 10,000 members. There is absolutely nothing that happens on the south side of Chicago that the church or one of its members doesn’t have a hand in. Rev. Wright is a huge personality in that neighborhood and in Chicago in general. Bill Clinton invited him to the White House to pray with him. If he’s that big a fish nationally, think about how big a fish he is in the small pond of the south side of Chicago.

I posted here that his appearance on Bill Moyers would be a chance to get more facts out there and to clear the air.

Now that I see his jealousy of Obama and his attention-whoring ways (plus the book tour coming up), yes, he needs to shut the fuck up and slither back under his rock.

I’m waiting for him to say, “Gimme a quarter, Rog, and I’ll keep quiet.”

“Reverend Wright” is a drum that will be beaten so long as Obama himself remains in the public eye, whether that be until this November or until January 2017. Even if Wright dies.

Don’t you find it curious that the woman who got him a speech in front of the National Press Club is a Hillary supporter?

Not only that, but that she’s criticized Obama on her blog?

Hmmmm…I’m not saying Hillary is behind this, but I find it interesting what her followers can do for her.

She’s a fucking thug in the grand style of 19th century Robber Barons. She dispatches her hoodlums to beat people up while she sits on her pile of money and schemes to get more.

:dubious: Nobody runs for POTUS for the money.

What money? Didn’t she have to loan her own campaign $5 million, and isn’t Obama beating her at the fundraising game anyway?

So, Tony Montana had it slightly wrong. First you get the woman, then you get the power, then you get the money…

Except that she reportedly was about to pick up an extra $10Mil in the 24 hours post PA, but yeah, he’s kicking her tail and he’s only taken $250.00 in PAC money as opposed to her $1.2 Mil.

Still and all, I think Rev. Wright, as righteous as he claims to be, is little more than a symptom of the ills that plague the culture of his people. There is a screaming need to bring about the kind of dialogue on race in this country that he and Mr Obama are touting. You can’t DO that though, when you get in front of the cameras and do your best Al Sharpton impression. You don’t have to tell thinking Americans about the wrongs this country has engaged in. We already know. You don’t have to drag out the Amistad to make a point about your “struggle”. The socially concientious among us already know about that. You need to sell your message to the NASCAR crowd. Middle America. You can’t DO that as a fire and brimstone preacher leading your ad-hoc CNN sermons with the tenets of black liberation theology. It won’t work. In fact, I fear that Reverend Loudmouth has already damaged the campaign of Mr. Obama severely enough that he will not win the nomination. I find the irony a sad one that for all the good Wright’s church may have done, that he, because of his vanity will ultimately do more harm than good for the cause of advancement in the culture he claims to represent.
The only thing he needs to do is shut his damn mouth. We can change the game once we own the team, but we can’t, reverend, change the game from the bleachers.

I heard someone on talk radio this morning suggest that his appearance could have been Hillary’s doing. I’m not usually a member of the Tinfoil Hat Brigade, but I’m very interested to see how this plays out.

After some of the shitstirring she’s done during the campaign, I think she’s enough of an evil bitch to do something like that.

As an aside: At this point, why is anyone still wondering if there will be a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket. I wouldn’t let those two in the same room together for fear of some chair-throwing and hair-pulling.

As opposed to the chair-throwing and hair-pulling that Bill and Hillary did in the White House?

In this day and age of teh internets and live blogs and 24-hour news, it does seem odd that some people still think they Can Get Away with Stuff. I still don’t think she had a hand in this, but I’m sure there was some private grinning when Hillary found out who had invited Rev. Wright to the Press Club. In any event, it doesn’t look good…she might be damned by association.

I refrained from including this in my first post, but it’ll be a damn shame if the first truly viable black candidate to the win the Democratic nomination or office of presidency is thwarted by one of his own people, who can’t shut his mouth due to his jealousy, attention-whoring and cluelessness.

In case y’all don’t know already know, there is frequent talk among the black community about how we’re sometimes our own wortst enemy and many times not so inadvertently.
