Attention Dems - They WANT Hillary as our Candidate

No, sorry, if a man said those things, he would be lambasted just as much by the looney right. There is a lunatic fringe of those that believe that their own land is their castle, over which they are as sovereign as any king of medieval Europe; that they can rear their children however they damn well please, with no interference from the outside; & that taxation & government itself are evil. They’ve managed to kid themselves that the Republicans are on their side, or at least will fear them. An honest moderate who stands for civilization, law, & order scares them shitless.

BTW, this isn’t proof at all. Note the Hill went to FoxNews’ 10 year anniversary party. Note that this is being done now, not next year. Note that it’s completely out in the open-- if RM had some sinister plan to funnel money to Hill, he’d do it secretly.

It will be interesting to see if Hill accepts the money. If so, I just see it \as RM greasing the palm of the NY Senator. And despite my joke reference to reverse psychology, this type of PDA for Hill from RM would really be more likely to backfire, and turn the solid Democratic base against her.

And also note that Rupert Muroch isn’t exactly “the Republican party.” A lot of corporations and big donors choose to grease the skids with both parties even if they personally favor one. If this was a major Republican organization of some sort, it’d carry more weight.

Note that this has been asked twice now, with no answer. No doubt, Hillary is rather liberal, and not a Moderate. But other than that, I think that the reason Hillary is hated is because the Repugs really, REALLY hated Bill. They pointed out he got a** BLOW JOB IN THE OVAL OFFICE!!! ** Oral sex! Sodomy in some states, even. But still, he was just about the most popular president for decades. Since the GoP despised Bill, they just couldn’t figure out why the rest of America liked the dude. And, this hate of Bill has rubbed off on Hillary- not to mention she’s smart, won’t stay barefoot in the kitchen having babies  , and is super liberal- she scares the shit out of them. I admit she’s too liberal for me, but she’s better than another GWB clone, by far.

Most of the dudes that hate Hillary aren’t going to vote for any Dem anyway- unless the Dem nominate a right-wing bible-thumpin, abortion-hatin, puppet of the Fundies. :dubious: :stuck_out_tongue: And, they aren’t.

However, really- the Dem’s very best chance is with Kerry again. He came within a cunthair of beating GWB in the last election 9even when GWB was hwaaaaay more popular than now), and now the people know the “swiftboaters” are lying politizied sacks of shit, the GoP won’t have that weapon anymore. Any skeletons in Kerry’s closet have sunburn by now, they’ve been out in the open so long. Which is why the Dem’s would be stupid to run a relative nobody, tempting as it may seem. There will be skeletons, and if *those *skeletons aren’t very newsworthy, another “swiftboat veterans of watergate” will magically appear out of nowhere just in time to cost the Dems the election. Trust me.

Honestly, I’d like to see Hillary in the VP position. It’s time to give the distaff side a shot at the Oval offcie, even if it might be another 8 years down the road.

Let me make a bold prediction: Hillary will not be the nominee. The trail begins in Iowa, hardly receptive ground for a pro-war Dem even if Iraq was going well. The anti-war sentiment is going to be much stronger in 2008 than it is now, and Hillary is going to get her tush handed to her in Iowa and quickly fade from the race.

Do you have a cite? I’ve heard the idea (and I have no particular reason to doubt it) that Republican voters who otherwise would not have voted did so because of the gay marriage dealio, but I’ve never heard that they were Amish or Mennonite, and it strikes me as very out of character for those two groups.

Think about that. If Karl is right, that would prevent Hillary from winning enough primaries to be nominated, right?

You could very well be right. Isn’t there an old saw about the guy (or gal) with the most money getting the nomination, though? Isn’t it pretty obvious that she will be the hands down winner in the money raising category?

I’m still sticking to my bold prediction: Hillary won’t run if the Pubbies still control both Houses of Congress. Does she want to live thru that whole process again, but with all the animosity directed at her this time?

I don’t think she’s that liberal, especially now that she’s had to moderate herself to get elected on her own right. But as I remember, she became known as something of a Josefina Stalin/ Hillary Tse-tung very early in Bill’s first term, when she was heading up a possible health-care reform initiative (1st 100 days?). Bill didn’t get his knob polished (that we know about) until well into his second term.

The only New Englander that has any shot of being elected is Romney (a Republican, and he’s a carpet bagger, isn’t he?) The best shot the Dems have is nominating a Southern Democrat (you know, like the Democrats that have actually been elected for the past 40+ years)- Mark Warner’s the name I hear bandied about. He’s a Democrat that I could actually vote FOR (and I say that as someone that has to hold my nose most Tuesdays following the 1st Monday in November, just to get near the polling station). That could change when it turns out he used to produce goat and midget porn, or has ties to terrorist Quebecois separatists, or any of the gazillion other things that could come out in the next 30 freakin’ months.

The right-winger/ Republican for Hillary meme that’s going around is aimed more at straightening out the current Republicans- as in “you guys are sucking so bad that even HILLARY is looking good” (that’s a whole lotta suckitude, in many Republican eyes). Despite what some may think, not all conservatives/ Republicans care too much for Karl and his Keystone Kops that are currently running the show and the party.

I know GWB sucks, and it’s comforting to imagine him gone, but shouldn’t we at least wait 'til the mid-terms are over before we start worrying about the next Presidential election. I’ve heard of the Permanent Revolution, but a Permanent Election Cycle is just about enough to want to swallow a handful of Ambien and go tear-assing down the PCH on a rocket bike with no brakes.

I tell ya, they even try pulling that, and we’re looking at four (possibly eight) years of Zombie Hitler in the White House.

Hillary was a Goldwater Republican before she met Bill. I do not trust her.

There’s tons of articles out there.

Why? If Hillary has the most money, she’s likely to win in the primaries. She’ll get the nomination whether Murdoch is open about this or not.

In primaries, which get a lot lower turnout, she could certainly win. Besides, primaries are pluralities, not majorities.

The nominee is a product of inertia, not a top-down driven choice by the party.

I am not convinced of that, and I am sure there are a number of Democratic challengers willing to bet millions you are wrong.

Chris Matthews did a segment on this last night with a Democratic Strategist*, and you could tell the guy was uncomfortable with the whole thing, but he explained it as simply a guy w/ NY businesses wanting to be “in” with a NY Senator. There are plenty of businessmen who give funds to both candidates and just want to make sure they have access to whoever wins. This fundraiser isn’t some trick that Hillary doesn’t know about-- she’s in on the whole thing.

Both Clintons bother me at least a little bit in that they seem overly political even for politicians. It’s hard to determine exactly what they believe in as they tack all over the place trying to find the position that benefits them the most politically. Having said that, though, I can think of a lot worse presidential candidates than Hillary. I’m not sure I’d be too happy voting for her, but even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be all that upset about her winning. I have no doubt she could do the job even if I didn’t agree with all her decisions.

*last name of McMahon-- he’s on Hardball all the time representing Democrats.

But it’s so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy’s? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
I’ve figured it all out. Rove is really the evil genius Vizzini

And look how that worked out for Vizzini. There is hope.

You fool! That’s what he WANTS you to think!

Oh my gosh, what’s that over there? Hmm, I could have sworn I saw something. Well, never mind.

Would that be in the primaries, or the general election? I don’t recall which party Zombie Hitler is in.

(I’m picturing the love/hate child of Rob Zombie and Adolf Hitler)

But, is Hillary really that solidly identified with the pro-war position?
