I’m interested, but I need to know definite dates for booking things. Anyone know a reasonable place to stay in Amsterdam (where are the rest of you staying?)?
I’d love to go, but I’ll let you all know closer to the date.
Haven’t even thought about sensible things like that. It would be cool of we could manage to stay in the same place.
I’m flexible. Hostels or cheap hotels both work for me.
I’ll talk to a couple of people who went there recently and report back.

I think it would be cool if we just booked a suite or two and had a big slumber party! If DubDope, CopeDope and Hamdope are any indication, nobody is going to be doing much sleeping anyway…we’ll just need a place to stash our luggage!
Also, everyone has been to Amsterdam, right? So, we won’t need to do the big tour, ect and can concentrate on hookers, hash and Heinikin (sp?)?
Let’s do this, let’s all say if the weekend of Feb 16th or March 17th works better, then we’ll work out the details from there.

Most of those dates work for me, though I think if we had it the weekend of 16 Feb (Coldy’s B-Day) or 17 March (St. Paddy’s) it would be more festive like.

Amsterdam has plenty of affordable hotels and hostels, but they DO require some advance booking. About two or three people could crash at my place - for yojimbo, there’s a reserved space (returning the favour, after all!).
Just do a Google search for “Budget lodging Amsterdam”, and you’ll find lots of links.
If it’s paddys wkend ie. starting 16th I’m 100% there.
Tater the only problem with your idea is that I snore in a big way I’m told.
Micilin nearly killed me on x-mas day when we slept in the same room.

Yoji, your snoring didn’t bother me at all when I was staying at your house, but since it looks like you’ll be staying with Clogster, it doesn’t matter.
Based on the troubles me & Snormy had with the hostel in Dublin, I think that if we do the hostel thing it would be best to try and book an entire room just for us Dopers.

I don’t mind re dates at the moment, but then I don’t have my tutorial dates for my courses yet (groan).
Celyn is in Scotland, I don’t know if she’d be interested. There’s quite a few British dopers, we were vaguely talking about a London dopefest, but no one wanted to organise it!
Tater - the mailing list thing sounds like a great idea. You can use my mail which is registered with the board…or do we want to set up a amsterdope@yahoo.com address for us to register at or what?
The great thing about amsterdam is that’s it quite compact.
All the things you want to see are quite close together, like Dublin but a lot easier to get around.
Coldy can use this as a excuse to see some of the touristy things he’s never seen ( I had to tell him there was a Hash museum ).
But if the Dubdope experience is anything to go by a lot of things will be put to the wayside. Wasn’t that a lot of fun though. Slacking is cool. 
Hopefully a lot of UK posters see this ( Where is London Calling BTW ? ) it would be cool to meet AMAP dopers.

And how bout instead of being so ambitious, like we were in Dublin, we just settle on seeing one or two important things, and then just take one of those tourist buses or boats for the rest? Worked well enough in Dublin!
