Attn: Nothern Hemisphere

Ok we have heard you lot gripe and moan about how dreadfully hot it is. We even giggled a wee bit at the thought of Poms having a heat wave…OK we know you HAD one it just seemed odd. But it is time to hand it over, it’s bloody cold here (ok so not Northern Hemisphere snow and ice type cold, but colder then we like it) and it has pissed down fairly solidly for days. It is officially spring now but we are still having winter and it just isn’t fair.
Hand over summer now please! While you are thinking about it bear in mind we don’t (in most cases) have central heating or air conditioning and it seems you have both, so surely all seasons are much-of-a-muchness to you lot!
If you don’t hand it over soon we shall be forced to keep it once we finally get it! Pleeeeeease let summer come soon I am so sick of rain I am seriously considering becoming a duck so I can enjoy the usual weather.

Bah!

I hear it was hot in Europe, but the northeast US was denied the pleasure of a summer entirely. It was either raining or cold from the beginning of May until the end of August.

I know why, though.

It’s because I purchased a new air conditioner a few months ago, and God did not want to allow me to use it.

God apparently wants me to build an ark…you have no problems.

While I’ll grant you, calm kiwi, that we’ve had a fair bit of the old wet stuff from out of the sky in recent days (wellies being the gear of choice while hanging out my washing in the boggy paddock that is my back yard), it isn’t officially Spring until later on this month (September 23 - which is our Spring Equinox).

The winter in my part of Auckland has been fairly mild, actually. I haven’t had to turn the heaters on at home at all. Sorry to hear you’re having a chilly time of it.

You guys don’t have a/c in NZ? Didn’t realise that. You’re a bunch of hard bastards then - it gets quite hot in North Island, doesn’t it?

Perhaps we are indeed a bunch of whingeing poms (or do the Kiwis like us more than the Aussies?).

Forget it! It is 22 degree and sunshine here, unheard of in the autumn. You’re not getting our fine weather; it’s bought and paid for I tell you, fair and square. Father-sky sold me some dirty secret on mother-nature, and I’m gonna milk her for all she’s worth!

Gee Calm Kiwi one thing I really miss about NZ is the bitter cold. Yes I’m serious! Just remember you can always make yourself warmer, but there’s only so many clothes you can take off, and airconditioning is not all it’s cracked up to be. Either too cold, not cold enough, or it gives you clogged sinuses.

You just always have to be right eh! lol. Ok so I have had the heater on only 3 times this winter…but JEEEEEEEEEEEEZ ain’t you sick of the rain yet???

BTW unless you are pretending to be a Pom they would be gumboots not wellies

And 1920s Style Death Ray there are only so many jumpers a person can wear and i am so looking forward to taking them all off.

Bah! We’re keeping the warm weather. Its September, and still warm enough that wearing a skirt is a comfortable option. The warm weather is officially ours I tell you! Ours! All ours!! Mwahahahahaha.

I feel no sympathy. Here in the Washington area this Spring we had 57 days with some precipitation in a row.

Talk about building an ark. I can’t ever remember it being that gloomy here.

Shit that’s normal here! I’m talking PISSING down, so heavy that the sound off the roof deafens you.
We have lovely beaches here, really very nice beaches. I sooooooooo wanna go to the beach!

Kindly inform the 'Merkin here of the meaning of “Poms.”
In Oklahoma City this week, it’s been perfect.

Breezy, but not the 30 mph winds we normaly have. Lows in the 50s, highs in the low 80s. Partly cloudy.

Too many cats, though. Getting a little tired of all the cats in people’s houses that I’m working in. I mean, tons of cats! And one gigantic snake.

Oh, sorry. Continue whining about the weather.

“Limeys” Those from the United Kingdom…

Poms are those English types.

May a pussy cat or a snake hurt you bad this week (not really cause you entertain me far too much!)

I shall whine till we get summer…then I shall listen to you whine about winter. There is something very just about weather.

Yeah, but winter=snow and snowball fights and sledging, and skiing! Wee!

Nice.

I have never heard either “pom” or “limey” used for Scots or Welsh. Are you sure you don’t mean “those from England”?

And calm kiwi, kindly exclude Ireland from your rant. We need all the summer we can get.

Entirely possible. My brain’s been far to scattered these days. My apologies.

I hereby invite calm kiwi to spend January in my fair city. I guarantee it won’t rain. Not even a brief shower.

The fact that the temperature won’t rise above 0C is entirely irrelevant.

You can have it. In Minnesota, it’s been hovering around 90 (32C) for the past four months, and it hasn’t rained in weeks. A few drizzles here and there, but nothing to write home about. It’s about time we get some 40 degree (4C) readings and some damned rain. Take summer, you of the Southern Hemisphere, and run with it. May it provide you with at least as much misery as it has given us.
That being said, I know that the Upper Midwest United States and New Zealand are about as far apart climatically as any two locations can be. Of course, your summer will be nothing like our summer, and our winter will be nothing like your winter.

It will be nice, though, to have a good blizzard of 18 inches in the middle of December. I can’t wait.:dubious:
