Audiochecker Question (and/or Help )

I am in the process of deciding on whether to rip my CD collection to FLAC or WavPack and was Googling around for info when I came cross a tool called Audiochecker.

It’s supposed to tell you whether or not your CDs are real or fake. For fun, I thought, I tested the few CDs I had already ripped and all, except a few came out fine.

I found that three CDs so far, two Laura Branigans and my Billy Joel, Greatest Hits I & II, contains supposedly fake tracks.

Now if the whole CD came out as MPEG(mp3) that would be one thing, but it’s just certain tracks in the CDs.

I assume they are just false positives, but then I was looking at the cases and all three of those CDs I bought a LONG time back at Virgin Records. (in the late 90s). Then I got to thinking I know Russia had produced a lot of fake CDs, especially back then.

I haven’t tested my whole collection but it does seem odd that those three, so far, all bought from the same store would have mp3 tracks.

My quesiton is does anyone else use this? And is it your experience to contain false positives. And if anyone has those CDs and could test it, to see if you get MPEG tracks mixed in let me know. The CDs again are Billy Joel’s “Greatest Hits I & II” and Laura Branigan’s “Branigan” (first CD) and “Touch”

Thanks
