Audiologist Test Q

I’ve have many hearing test for a hearing problem. I’m not doubting the results, but my question is: why is the patient never allowed to see the examiner? My ears ring constantly but not always at the same volume or tone which has made me punch the button when no actual tone was being tested - but I thought there was because of this ringing. Sometimes this ringing sounds like crickets too.

Wouldn’t it be more accurate to ask the patient: Do you hear this beep? y/n
for the entire test? If a patient was concerned about their hearing, they’d truthfully answer yes/no to get the prescribed treatment so they could hear again.
