I started a root canal 3 years ago. Did not return. I think he left some of the root in, as its been bothering me. I want to go get it redone. I want it pulled, but there would be a gap and make my few remaing teeth less stable.
Much as I admire those making things from scratch, nothing beats Stonewall Kitchen Roasted Apple Grille Sauce with maple syrup! …
If the dentist is selling that stuff, rest assured you can get the same products on Amazon for much less. Still more than grocery store stuff, but the difference is a couple cents per day, not a dollar a day.
If any of it is prescription, like a high fluoride toothpaste I used to use, your local mainline pharmacy will carry it for far less than the dentist sells it for. If you ask, they have to give you a paper scrip to carry to Walgreens or wherever.
What products did the dentist recommend?
MI Paste and DrTung’s Ecosentials. They did mention Amazon as a possible source, and it’s mainly more expensive compared to mass produced products, but still.
My dentist recommends Prevident, which is not cheaper on Amazon, dammit. But it has helped with my various dental issues, so I reckon it’s worth it.
I just buy it at the dentist without shopping around. I try really hard to stay on the good side of the people that get to stick drills in my mouth.
Reminds me a bit of a cat I had a very long time ago, long before I met @Seanette.
I found him one night, while I was out walking—very, very weak. He could not stand up, he could barely lift his head. I took him home, and my parents and I did what we could to nurse him back to health. He did eventually recover a normal amount of strength, but he seemed to be somewhat messed up, neurologically. Very unsteady and clumsy. He’d look up at me, if I was standing near him, lose his balance, and fall over. My mother, at some point, suggested that when he was better, he might follow me around like a shadow, so that’s what I named him—Shadow.
He was one of the sweetest, most loving cats that I ever knew. He also had the loudest meow of any cat I’ve ever known. A long, loud, mournful-sounding “Mmmmeeeeeeeeoooooooowwww” He usually sounded like he was in a cave or something, that perfectly resonated with, and amplified the sound of his voice. Sometimes, Buddy sounds a bit like Shadow, but a but less impressively. He was only with me for a few years—maybe as long as three or four years—before he passed away.
Not sure about sous vide meat without a sear. The mouth feel would just be off for me, but each their own!
At our house it was stewed apples similar to what Cracker Barrel’s fried apples are today. Yum.
My mom always used to fry sausage patties into hockey pucks and then be upset when I’d pass on them. Yes, trichinosis was/is a thing, but that was the nuke it from orbit solution. Sorry mom. Love ya, but can’t eat your sausages.
I sous vide them medium rare, but keep them at temperature for 6-8 hours. They are thick cut, but melt in your mouth like filet mignon. Now I’m hungry for pork chops and applesauce.
That’s how I do mine as well, but I prefer a bit of texture on the surface. But tell you what, you make the chops and I’ll try them your way. I’ll bring the veggies and beer.
WooHoo! I’m in.
All the health things. Have I mentioned I hate seeing doctors?

- Need to see General Practitioner to test blood sugars, possibly get RSV vaccine
- Sleep specialist? Pending how well my new sunrise alarm clock works, currently unable to evaluate sleep situation due to asthma constantly interrupting my sleep.
I think that’s everything??! I’m halfway there… groan.
I wondered has anyone ever tried a Zoom Dopefest?
There’s an RSV vaccine? How long has there been an RSV vaccine??
My daughter is with Grandma and Grandpa this week. I miss her greatly. Grandma is doing well watching her but, as usual, Daughter is not behaving like she usually does. Old behaviors are coming out. Like the one where she strips naked for no discernable (to us) reason. I feel terrible that my mom is having to put up with it.
I look too old on phone cameras. I would attend if I can make myself look like Airbecks avatar.
No, but I would certainly love to. Count me in.
The FDA approved a vaccine for seniors in May this year. It’s by Pfizer.
One for kids and one for pregnant people is imminent, if not just recently ok’ed.
Yes, the question is if they will give me one because I am only 40 but I have asthma. I did have RSV last year that triggered my asthma and it was awful. I thought I was going to suffocate. I don’t know if legally they can make a judgement call like that, but if they’re willing to give it to me, I want it.
Ah, I see; we only have the one receiver.
