I need a root canal post and crown. My insurance pays 50%. My dentist doesnt do root canals, but will do the cap and post. 600.00+$ for for the post and crown out of pocket. They have a credit option that gave me more than twice that in credit.
So I called the endodontist for the root canal. 50%of that was 600.00+ their credit option wouldn’t offer me anything. I don’t have that sort of money. We live paycheck to paycheck.
So I went to the lower income clinic. They don’t do root canals. So I could opt for a bridge. Out of pocket for that above what my dentist’s credit option is 850.00.
That leaves me a flipper or a partial. Nope, wore retainers for extended periods twice in my life.
Not sure what I’m gonna’ do. Try to save money I guess?
Screw you August. You’re bad news is bad news.
Oh yeah. This is my front right tooth which is half gone. Ugh!
I debated whether to post this or not because I am not a Christian…
but for some reason there seems to be a lot of Anti-Protestants posts written by Catholics popping up in my Twitter feed today (August 22) and it’s not even by people I am following.
I have elderly parents. Each lives alone, independently, and is in that stage of life where they can but probably shouldn’t. The last couple of weeks have been one minor disaster after another, most of which could have been prevented but can’t really be helped now except for some help in mitigating damages.
I imagine it’s a bit parallel to having teenagers / young adults in that regard, and I’m trying to remind myself of when I was there, and the trouble I inadvertently caused. It’s not really working, though. I feel like saying, “look, I need a break—could you just not die for a couple of months, and we’ll be in touch after that?” Of course, I can’t do that, and they WILL die. Unlikely (but possible) in the next couple of months, probably within the next four or five years, so like teenagers this phase is finite.
But it’s not even the hard part yet, the part with daily care and hospital stays, and already I’m burnt out!
I’m taking my grandmother into my household tomorrow. She has dementia, and my mother, who usually cares for her, is in the hospital. Mom’s having seizures and something with stroke-like symptoms. Needless to say, I’m terrified. Wish us all luck!
I hope things are going better than you feared they would. This is more than a “mini” rant. You’ve probably already thought to do this, but I would contact Adult Protective Services to learn what assistance might be available to you. While their primary objective is to stop elder abuse, they will have current and good information on resources. I hope things improve for your family members and you soon.
Ah, didn’t realize that Hospice was already involved. I’m very glad that’s the case. Take good care of you during this incredibly stressful and difficult time.
I’ve started a new job and things are going well, except I’m broke. The job is what I want to do but it just doesn’t pay well (doggy day-care) and now to top everything off, my TeeVee died two weeks ago and it looks like my laptop may not be far behind. For some reason it just today started taking several minutes to boot up and I can’t seem to get YouTubeTV to work … some weird license error? … maybe that’s on YouTubeTV, Idunno.
But this technical shit is not helping me as I walk along this ledge.
I strongly and highly recommend starting an MPIMS thread (I think that would be the right forum. It may be FQ) giving all the very specific details of your computer and televison problems. I have done so in the past. I have always gotten a lot of accurate and very helpful information.
My BIL was in a float plane that crash landed on a lake. It went end over end a few times and they say that he spent 18 minutes under water before they got him out. He is in a hospital in a coma.
Family have been asked not to come because there is no room for them at or near his house. This is fucked up.
The booting issue could be a hardware or software problem with your computer. The licensing issue though is definitely going to be a problem with YouTubeTV, I would not expect the computer to be to blame for that one.
Sorry about your other TV. It sucks when things like that happen just when you are struggling with money.
Have you noticed, August seems to (so far) have been a pretty good month for us? We’re only averaging about seven post per day, and a lot of them are discussions rather than ‘original’ mini-rants.
McDonald’s Dollar Menu: Now $6…
.
.
The menus show calories; prices not so much. Top on the Dollar Menu is that if you buy 1 double cheeseburger, you may buy a second one for a dollar. Sounds like a good deal right?
Well… except that the double cheeseburger is approx $4.50… and that adding that second one bumps the dollar menu meal to approx $6 with tax.
