aunt jemima...

im from south Carolina, and all my life i have been told that aunt jemima is a real person, that had real recipes, and was the real deal. for twenty years i have been told that the real aunt jemima was from bennetsville south Carolina. so some research should be done in that area, because a lot of people are confused about weather or not she is an actual person.

The column in question is this early undated one by Veg, Were Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima real people?

Aunt Jemima was of course never real, and was never claimed to be real. The research has been done and has been known by anyone who cared to look for decades.

I’m sure some people believed she was real, and may still do so to this day, but some people will believe anything. I present the Internet as proof as that statement.

Wikipedia has a fairly decent article on Aunt Jemima history.

Next you’ll be telling us that Betty Crocker was just some ad-man’s wet dream.

What Aunt Jemima said to Uncle Ben: “You’re a credit to your rice.”::: ducking :::

Somewhere someon named Jemima must be an aunt to someone

Ad-woman’s wet dream.

(Incidentally, Chef Boyardee was a real person.)
