Australia Day (Jan 26th) check list

A typo, ya dag. It’s not like I’m a couple of 'roos short in the upper paddock…

But a follow on question to ya Bruce, who the bloody hell are Darren and Sharon?

:: regards Australia levelly from the Frozen North ::

The Snow Snakes are… confused.

They’re Bogans my china plate. Probably decked out in their Sunday best tracky dacs and Uggies, being as they’re heading down to their local fine dining restaurant.

:dubious: That accent sounds suspiciously like a sheep-shagger’s. You don’t live at Bondi do you?

I feel late to the dance on this thread but I helped some of your brethren celebrate 2013 “Australia Day” tonight at work…

I run a Market Pub house just out side of St Louis proper but In the Loop. Your countrymen were very Happy to find a bar that could satiate their thirst and also enjoy their celebration!

GoOzGo!

You mean “Heading down to their local aR-ey” (RSL)

No, on both counts.
My guess is that Kiwispeak would be either Mul Bun or Mool Bun

And the local pile of bullshit called news here published a laughable list of the 50 greatest Australians.

Link.

Apart from having some musician who choked himself masturbating, they include a New Zealand bred horse on the list?

Bloody hell; what a schmozzle.

Ranking the silver budgie above Menzies and not a guernsey for Gough?

I couldn’t even rate the silver budgie above Keating. And the order is way way out- in reality, why would Banjo Patterson be above- well anyone except the horse.

I would love to know what criteria they used though. Obviously not Australian born.

I think Isaac Isaacs may have been given a guernsey before the Australian / American Rupert Murdoch. Even Murdochs father was probably more deserving…

The RSL? Only if it’s dole day, what da think they’re rich or sumtink?

You obviously missed item #20 in Thulies list. :stuck_out_tongue:

Some of these really made me laugh.

I guess I’m kinda out of touch with Australian culture, since I’m young and I wasn’t even born in Australia. I’m actually from Lebanon. I do pronounce Melbourne the way it is on the list, though.

I think the Darren and Sharon jokes is that they’re stereotypical Australian names - the ones non-Australian TV shows like to name Australian characters. Kylie is in the category too. I mean, you’ve got singers Kylie Minogue and Darren Hayes. (Needless to say, I’ve never met anyone under 30 with any of those names.)
