This isn’t new but made me giggle like a school girl nonetheless.
I remember reading it a few years ago and smiling. The inclusion of a reference to John Howard as Prime Minister will quickly date it now though.
Yeah. It’s a laugh.
As has been said: Australia is centrally located. We’re twenty-four hours from everywhere!
The Howard reference just dates it to when that page was done. Someone will surely update it for the next incarnation.
That’s a classic that may never completely fade away.
On a rather random note, is that map to scale? I always think Australia is smaller than it really is because it’s so far south and it appears that way on whatever-projection-we-normally-use type of maps. So I suspect it actually is to scale. Can anyone verify?
Australia is marginally smaller than the Lower 48, but basically comparable.
Here’s a page with pics of Australia overlaid on other countries including the USA. It’s pretty big.
So what?
Wow, I never realized Australia was so big.
Yeah, but the map linked to in the OP shows Venezuela JUST a bit too far north.
That’s because Australia rammed through the isthmus and pushed South America to the east. It also broke of part of Florida.
And Tasmania is on top of Nova Scotia.
