Australians can you give me a hand with a 'Centenary of Federation Speech'?

Hi there, I’d be very humble if you could give me a few ideas for this, I have to do:

My task is to write and present an informative/entertaining speech about some aspect of interest of Australia’s past to an imagined, live audience.

‘Some aspect’ as in only one.

I have a few idea’s that I can’t choose from, I’d be happy for anyone to give their own ideas and a few things I could talk about.

Some of my current ideas:

Australia’s defence over the last 100 years.
Australia’s changing face (immigration policy).
Australian inventions over the past 100 years.
Australia’s sporting achievements.

This is for year 12, English.

I think the changing faces (immigration), while it has many positives, would have a lot of negativity in it. (think white Australia policy).

The sport could be very interesting but I think maybe the one on Australian inventions would be a good one to do. I have a book here on Australian inventions. Email me if you want some more info.

You might want to post this on one of the ABC’s message boards as well.

The SSSF forum helped someone will an address with a similar topic a few weeks ago and the JJJ forum would be a good place to get some youth-oriented suggestions.

Good Luck!
