The story starts: She has experienced three different centuries, outlived her husband, two sons, three brothers and five sisters and was born before Australia had chosen its first prime minister.
I thought my grandfather did pretty well being born before powered flight and then seeing jet planes, the atomic age and man on the moon. Miriam can add the computer age to that.
I like the fact that she has never been outside her home state (Queensland).
I dunno. I can’t really get past the outliving the kids thing. That’s one of my worst nightmares.
So she’s never been outside of Queensland. In that case I have a hunch that she’s actually only 80, but it just feels like 111.
(Not necessarily having a go at Queensland but jeez, how about a bit of variety. It’s an amazing world out there - why not at least experience a tiny bit of it outside of your home state?)
