a few years ago, i read a short story called “Henry Bellamy and the Mendlessohn Violin Concerto” in (i think) an O. Henry Prize anthology or best american short stories from the 70s or 80s. it was about a guy who comes into a lot of money, quits his job, buys a violin, and decides he’s going to play at carnegie hall. i really liked it, and i can’t remember who wrote it. if anyone knows the author, or even what anthology it’s in (my local library only carries from '94 and beyond in those anthologies), i’d be greatly in your debt. thanks
