Auto insurance claim

Yesterday morning I came out to find that a branch had fallen and damaged two of my vehicles. Neither was damaged too badly one had a broken windshield and no other noticable damage (old car anyway), and a brand new truck which had several small dents. I just spoke to the insurance company and they said that each car would have to filed under a seperate claim, and I would have two deductables.

I’m pretty sure my deductable is $500 so I’m guessing that the insurance company won’t be paying out at all, but they still wanted to know all of the info, and said that even if they don’t pay the ‘claim’ could still raise the rates. I spoke with them anonymously, so at this point I can still do whatever I want…

I guess my question is: is it typical that one incident that affects two cars is treated as two seperate claims? Am I just with a crappy insurance company (is there any other kind??)?

If you go through the car insurance then it will have to be filed on each car seperately. If this happened at your house is it possible to file it under your home owners insurance?
