My husband made several very rude comoments to me last night in an argument. He just sent me an Instant Message from work saying a rock flew up from the road and broke the windshield of his new truck. $450 for a new one. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Oh, that’s too bad! (Feeling very smug.)
In my relationship, our money is “our” money. If I were you, I wouldn’t feel much better. But, since you are you, and I obviously have no idea about you, well…
HA HA to him!!
I hope he comprehends the correlation between his remarks and his misfortune. If not, point it out to him.
He didn’t happen to say you were insensitive did he. Once had a piece of metal flew off a truck and hit my car. I though I was going to die. It came right at my head. Make sure it didn’t almost kill him before you get too smug.
No, we don’t have any “our” money. It’s mine and his. And his deductible is $500, so if it can’t be repaired he has to pay it himself. And if he would’ve gotten killed, that would’ve served him right too. He did say “I’m very, very, very, very ,very sorry – but you didn’t have to break my windshield!” (Like I have that kind of power!)
I keep a high comp/collision deductable with Allstate but have never had to pay a dime out of pocket for glass replacement. Call your insurance person and find out.
The high deductables got me once though. I hit a rock on a county road and bashed my oil pan. by the time I got back to tow the car away it had been broken into though the driver’s window. The vandals could not open the door because of the central lock but broke off the turn signal lever out of spite. I found that I would have had to paid both the comp and collision deductables to get it repaired but at least the glass was free. I decided to do all the other work myself but I’ll just say I’d have been better off just paying the deductables.
Please don’t interpret this as me being a smartass; I am honestly interested to hear your answer.
Why are you married to him?
You certainly seem to be deriving a bit of pleasure from his misfortune. I don’t know about his side of it (whether he enjoyed making his remarks to you)–but this seems kind of…odd (for lack of a better word) behavior for a married couple.
Yeah, great, the insurance covers broken windows, but it doesn’t cover the light scratches someone made on my windshield, probably with a gas station window squeegee.Mine are plastic, no metal parts.
