Autosketch – any good?
I’m currently mapping a process and systems data flow diagram in Visio. The file is less than 200k and Visio is choking on it. Adding to my frustration are the many limitations of Visio. I think I need a more robust program.
I’ve used both AutoCAD and Autosketch in the past but it’s been a while. I don’t do this sort of thing often so the low price of Autosketch (under $75 US) is quite tempting.
Has anyone used it lately? Are there significant drawbacks you’ve encountered? Am I barking up the wring tree or would this be a good solution for a small one (or maybe two) time project?

AutoCAD user checking in. I’ve only ever used the full ACAD, ACAD LT, and Architectural Desktop so I can’t really comment on AutoSketch. It’s features look pretty limited but the price certainly seems right.
You might want to check out Intellicad as a possible alternative, though. The standard edition is slightly more expensive than AutoSketch but it appears to be more fully featured as well as being fully compatible with AutoDesks DWG format.
zoid, I’ll tell you the same thing I told my brother, when he described doing almost exactly the same thing in Visio. You really need to look at using a process modeling program, like Rational Rose or something similar. Not only is the software designed to help you do those tasks easier, by working with something besides Visio, you’ll also broaden your knowledge of process modeling as a whole, and make yourself more markatable. Good Luck!
