Apparently this is still confusing for you. **Mijin **nailed a good part of it pretty well, but I’ll expand, too.
I am able to recognize some handful of the most active and notable posters (notable either positively or negatively) after having been active here for over a year. I still have problems keeping certain people straight (especially the ones with similar usernames), and there are still users who even though I now remember them required a hell of a lot of posts of a certain kind for me to remember some relevant bit of information about them.
For instance, right now, in this thread, I keep conflating you and bucketybuck.
I know that you think they’re stupid but aren’t necessarily advocating that we not have them. The point is that you keep making retarded “arguments” instead of just shutting up at “I don’t like them, but I don’t care if we have them.”
Your “minor potential harms” are all so far beyond WAG territory they aren’t guesses so much as something you came up with by throwing darts at an Ouija board.
If you’d prefer to use gendered pronouns, I’m female. Which has been pointed out in a very large number of threads. Which you might remember if you had an avatar to associate with my name.[/del]
You new kids are completely ruining our glorious board. I don’t think we should even have the ability to bold, italicize or underline. We should strive for uniformity in all things.
Agreed, including the content of our posts…starting now.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again - if we exempt Great Debates, we might have a winning proposal. Leave all the Big Brains out of it, and maybe they’ll let the rest of us have fun.
You know, even if formatting were turned off by default, so long as there is an option for others to turn it on, the board would still be terrible, because all people would ever talk about was the formatting.
Not to mention the chaos and confusion that would result when users constantly change the typeface they use for their post. One day, they’re posting with Trebuchet, the next with Arial.
Also, what kind of people do you suppose will look at this forum and say to themselves “I will rather post somewhere else instead, because I can’t change the typeface, color, size or style of text?” Probably not many, but it stands to reason that filtering out such people will elevate the average level of discourse. And it really doesn’t take a huge amount of shit posters to significantly drag down a forum.
