Avatars/User Names Explained

D/p

Wherever he may be EinsteinsHund has the best avatar on the SDMB. It’s perfect!

Shoeless is a close second.

Mine’s self-explanatory.

Mine is evident. I like snow sports (skiing and snowboarding), and it is a positive play on ‘no thanks’. Altho, I spend more time on a bicycle. My dad used to use “thx” in letters (short for thanks).

I joined the discussions here after a long while lurking.

my avatar is a robin. just because I like them.

“Jet Jaguar” is a giant, flying robot from the movie “Godzilla vs. Megalon”. I first used it on the MST3K newsgroups back in the mid-90’s, then I started using it elsewhere so people I knew from RATMM would recognize me. Eventually it became my standard online user name.

My wife and I were in town a few weeks back, and so were the San Jose Sharks. We did not catch the game, but we did enjoy the Hockey Hall of Fame and other sights and scenes.

I’ve been known as “Spoons” for a lot longer than I’ve been a member of the SDMB, and it is my nickname in real life. People were calling me “Spoons,” because I can play them musically, to such music as Bluegrass and Celtic, among a few other styles; and I’ve played with a number of pub acts. When I signed up for the SDMB, it was a no-brainer.

No avatar, because while that would be a no-brainer too (a pair of spoons, natch), it would be pretty boring; and also redundant, in a way.

Yes, I thought I’d answered this before.

I’ve been using this user name for so long that when asked I merely say that it stands for me. It’s like in Pulp Fiction when the cab driver asked Butch what his name meant.

As to my avatar, a few people have figured it out. So, [Wayne from Letterkenny]Figure it out.[/Wayne from Letterkenny].

Well thanks for the compliment!

As for my username, it’s all explained in this old thread, where you see that my handle has a hidden meaning I wasn’t even aware of when I chose it.

I see a Schooner

When Mr & Mrs Aker named their firstborn Kay, they never thought kayaking might become popular one day. Hydration is important, so, beer.

No, it’s a sailboat! (Not really.)

My username is a popular phrase spoken in a dialect of the local watermen. It means that I heartily agree with your expressed opinion or statement. It is a shortened version of “Indeed, by God, Captain”.

The juxtaposition of your name and avatar make me happy every time I see them.

Yes, I like it too, the more so after Shoeless’ explanation of their handle and avatar. I also love the album.

Thanks!

I’d been wondering if it had something to do with this:

My username is my profession.

I’m not very original, but I am following in the steps of Buttercup, in the Princess Bride. In the book, she named her horse Horse.

“F”

just seeing your name makes me re-live the scent of sourdough bread baking…
