Avengers 5 officially renamed (Avengers: Doomsday)

I’d rather watch a time traveling Conan in NYC than another multi-verse mess.

Who wouldn’t?

The filmmakers, it would seem.

The rights history to Conan is a bit convoluted. I think Netflix owns the movie/tv rights now.

Maybe they can just call him Fonan*. That should satisfy the lawyers.

*Fauxnan!

I’ve always wanted to see a retcon on the “hot mask” thing so that it was intentional. It’s part of a ritual to give him increased magic powers, and sacrificing his face is the price he pays for that power. “Doom will sacrifice anything for power,” plays much better with his characterization than, “Doom is vain and also stupid.”

Robert E. Howard died in 1936. Shouldn’t Conan be public domain at this point?

Current copyright law is a confusing mess. Apparently, the Howard stories are public domain but the character is still protected until 2027.

<Avengers depart Earth-616 through a temppad time door>

Deadpool: Hey, I just got here!

See, now you should be a writer at Marvel.

Last I checked, Conan was Aquaman, so things are really confusing.

The FF movie is a 60s period piece set in an alternate, retro-futuristic, Tomorrowland-looking universe. So there’s no conflict with existing lore.

Only question is how they’ll end up in the current universe/time.

If Secret Wars is based even loosely on the 2015 crossover event, that should provide a path.

In that case, I’d like to announce that my new novel, Conan & Tarzan Do Vegas, will be hitting shelves on 1/1/28.

Heh. You know, that could still fit.

“To gain power, you could sacrifice your face.”
“My perfect handsome face? But I’m vain!”
“Uh, it now has a barely-noticeable flaw.”
“Then I’ll stupidly declare it’s ruined — so, okay!”
“How did you get that tiny scar, anyway?”
“I was too vain to correct a stupid math error.”
“You could say it really blew up in your face.”
“Kind of a recurring theme with me, yeah.”

You can of course argue that Doom would never say any of that. But that just raises the question: because he’s too vain to admit it, or too stupid to realize it?

Look, if neither version of Daredevil had to go one-on-one against Stiltman, I don’t think we’ve evolved enough to deserve any quirky super-villains.

But the villain in The Lego Movie did have stilts like that.

Stiltman did have an appearance in the Daredevil series on Netflix. Or at least the stilts did.

Marvel is very protective of Stiltman.

Pft. Stilt-Man is so last week. Lady Stilt-Man is where its at now.
