SPECIAL CASES:

  • Gamora was apparently sacrificed for Thanos to gain the Soul Stone.
  • Vision was apparently killed when Thanos pulled the Mind Stone from his head.
  • Loki was apparently killed by Thanos on the Asgardian refugee ship early in Infinity War.

Put Wasp in the “apparently dusted” category, not the “apparently remaining”: At the end of Ant-man and the Wasp, he’s in the quantum realm, and trying to communicate with folks outside, but there’s no one on the other end.

I knew I’d screw up going from memory

I forgot to mention Hawkeye … I’m pretty sure he’s still around. Though you covered him as one of the principal heroes in the 2012 Avengers film.

Thanks to you and others who replied. Weird that it broke down like that, with the original Avengers still around but not the others.

Hawkeye doesn’t appear in IW at all. When they’re all in Avengers HQ near the beginning of the movie, they mention him (and Ant-Man) briefly as it all being too hard on their families, so they took a deal and are under house arrest. So at the end of IW his fate is unknown.

And Shuri isn’t shown dusted. The last time we see her is when Corvus Glaive gets into the room where she’s trying to remove the Mind Stone from Vision. She’s on the ground unconscious when Corvus & Vision break through the window, and is not seen again. So her fate is unknown as well.

Some other main Wakandans - Nakia, the head of BP’s guard is still alive, and so is M’Baku, the head of the Jabari Tribe. Both shown alive during/after the dustings.

Just confirmed all this watching from IW on Netflix.

Well, it’s broke down however the writers wanted it to set up the next movie. And notice some non-original Avengers survived - Rhodes/War Machine wasn’t in the first Avengers movie at all, and Rocket isn’t an Avenger. You could say Rhodes pre-dates Avengers, but so does Bucky, and he gets dusted (he’s the first one we see dusted, BTW).

Okoye survived as well. And Valkyrie is unknown.

For better or worse, Disney made clear the statuses of both Hawkeye and Shuri outside of the events of the Infinity War film through the release of coded *Endgame *posters. Characters that Thanos dusted got black-&-white posters, the rest are in color.

Per the posters, Valkyrie survived.

Ah shit, that’s who I meant when I said Nakia. Nakia is who T’Challa has a crush on. She doesn’t appear in IW at all, so she’s unknown. But Okoye (shaved head, head of T’Challa’s guard, wants Wakanda to get a Starbucks) is definitely alive.

Wasp is a “definitely dusted” per the posters.

Well that sucks. In both ways - the results themselves, and the fact that Disney gave that info out.

I was just saying based on what’s in the prior movies, not based on the trailers or other promotional material for Endgame.

Wasp was definitely dusted per Ant-Man and the Wasp, not the posters.

Right, but the prior movies leave (for example) Shuri and War Machine unknown.

War Machine is alive if anyone is. He’s in the 2nd to last scene where Steve is kneeling over Vision’s body, Nat walks up holding her stomach like she’s going to vomit, Thor is looking down, Rocket is sitting on a tree trunk, and Bruce is in the Hulkbuster armor. Rhodes says “What is this. What the hell is happening?” The camera slowly zooms towards Steve, who says “Oh god.”, then it cuts to Thanos watching the sunrise, then credits.

OK, I missed that.

Life has been holding me hostage, so I haven’t gotten to see Antman and Wasp or Captain Marvel yet. How important is it to see them before Endgame?

I think the most that you need to know is that Captain Marvel exists and she’s a heavy hitter. For Antman,

He was in the quantum realm when the snap happened in Avengers Infinity War

From Captain Marvel, you may also need to know that (this is a CM spoiler, NOT an Endgame spoiler, I haven’t seen Endgame yet):

Captain Marvel got her powers directly from the Tesseract, aka the Space Stone, last seen on the middle finger of Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet.

Thank you.
