Aw, Gus 'tis full of rants

Crap crap crap crap not so far from me now - i know the grandmother. We are not bff but - enought to say hi and how is the bunny. I feel sick. It must be pure horror for the family.

There are news crews everywhere today

Just a suggestion for later.

Caving in New Mexico is AWESOME!! Skip the tour caves and hook up with one of the local grottos to see some of the wild caves. PM for an introduction if you’re interested.

A bit of positive anti rant coz I want to focus on non horrible stuff. I will be getting a new tablet (bells! Whistles even. Top of the line!) From telstra this Wednesday. And it will cost less than what I am paying on my current plan. Also today I started the process of applying for a no interest loan scheme to buy a laptop. Because I need it for my tutoring business they are expiditing the process and I will get the final word next Tuesday. Oh and at this exact moment the bunny is licking my knee =:3°

Glad to hear about the cheery things in your life. I know the joy of getting a few kisses from a bunny!

So, are you ‘adopting’ Tony? Is this a permanent move for him?

Do you know Anmar Mirza previously of Lost Creek Packs?

And I can definitely agree, NM is a gorgeous drive through, even better when you have time to poke around and sightsee.

Or is this some sort of capture and neuter operation gone really strange? :dubious:

:stuck_out_tongue:

Dear Wendys,

Tomatoes have no place on a Caesar salad.

Well, originally there were supposed to be a couple placed on the top, but Brutus et tu.

As if all the cluster of badness from last week isn’t enough, Sunday my husband got a call from one of his sisters that his mom was in the hospital with chest pain, and had been there since Saturday night. Of course, he hit the road to go to Cincinnati to see her.

He’s on his way home now. All of her cardiac enzyme tests were normal, thankfully. The hospital claims it is a combination of shingles (?!) and a pulled muscle, and sent her home. The rest of us are convinced it is a gallbladder attack, but the hospital wouldn’t look into that. Mom’s going to follow up with her PCP.

So, to sum up, in the last two weeks:

  1. Co-worker’s SO’s mother dies
  2. Same co-worker’s mother dies
  3. Different co-worker’s grandmother dies
  4. Husband’s boss goes missing, is found dead
  5. Friend in Canada’s close friend goes missing, is found murdered (and they have now arrested the husband)
  6. Husband’s mother goes into the hospital with chest pain
  7. My therapist’s dogs (who came into the office with her and were therapy dogs) have both died

I would like to tell the universe to stop now. I don’t even want to know what is going to be next.

That took me 5 seconds longer than it should have. :o
Groaannnn:D

Hang in there, madrabbitwoman and Indyellen. Sheesh, that’s a lot to deal with.

Now, about these bunny kisses. Where do I sign up?

I met someone today who believes that wind turbines are a net loss - not because they’re expensive to manufacture, or because they’re simply inefficient (other people sincerely hold those views - which are wrong, but not as stupid as this person).

This person was insistent that wind turbines contain a motor which is used to rotate them when the wind isn’t blowing, so they look like they’re generating energy.

There are a number of them around here owned by colleges. One on the U-lands (University of Minnesota) in Rosemount, two down by Northfield (Carlton or St. Olaf). I can tell you from experience, they don’t move when the wind isn’t blowing. Hell, there’s days when they don’t move when the wind IS blowing.

But you know, stupid people gotta stupid.

I love The Onion, but these gross, repetitive “royal baby pictures” aren’t funny. At all.

So, after a month of happily controlling my gestational diabetes through diet, my blood sugar has gone haywire again.

I’ve been eating the portions they recommend and hitting post-meal highs of about 95. Great. Except now I’m getting 100 before a meal, 87 after…and tonight I had a post-meal high of 131. On a dinner that was mostly meat plus the recommended carbs and vegetables.

I’d say it’s time to cut out more, but I’m only managing to eat about 1000 calories a day to start with. I’ve lost enough weight that in my third trimester I now weigh less than when I started the pregnancy. Ordinarily, I’d be thrilled at almost 20 pounds off in two months.

I see the OBGYN on Thursday, so I’ll ask if I need to bump up my next endocrinologist appointment from the 18th.

That’s silly. The motor to turn the turbines when there’s no wind is powered by solar energy. And, before you ask, at night, they use wind-powered electric lights to power the solar cells.

Awww.

I hate how my sister is a 29 year old woman and acts like a spoiled 16 year old girl. I’m 23 years old and yet far more mature than her and I hate the way she treats my parents and how to feels it is her right to insult me.

Wait, what? Those numbers are totally fine and anyone telling you to cut more needs to go fuck themselves. I don’t know you, but this is making me seriously wonder about malnutrition while you’ve got a developing human inside you.

And today, a perfect Saturday Morning Breakfast Comic for you.

I had gestational diabetes, and was also in the hospital on bed rest. My target numbers were the same as these, and you are well within these guidelines, except maybe for the 100 before meals, and that depends a lot on when your previous meal was. Did they give you something more strict? Why? I would be far more worried about the weight loss than about your blood sugars.
