Turn them off? I had to install a firefox extension to make them not disappear after a short time so I could read the alt text of webcomics uninterrupted.
I also thought that “Aw snap” had to indicate a virus, since no no major multinational corporation would ever use it. If they’re going to get rid of something, though, I think Google Instant should go first. Really, nobody wants that.
“You people” = people who think “aw snap” is in someway confusing/inappropriate
I have said it before, and so have others. “Aw Snap” or “Oh Snap” has fallen out of popular usage, and it is being used ironically/anachronistically; no one ever uses this phrase seriously anymore. If this sort of term confuses or upsets you, Chrome is not the browser for you. Evidently even Netscape did stuff like this at one time, so I guess you people should just stick to safe ol’ IE or your AOL stock browser, with their safe and boring error messages.
To those of you who actually think a virus programmer would use the phrase “aw snap!” I shake my head.
It’s not about whether or not someone here thinks malware programmers would use that phrase. It’s about users in general. I do user support as part of my job and believe me, some people will think that a message like that indicates a virus.
