Our school is kicking around the idea of putting kids into houses, yes, a lot like Hogwarts. We think we’d like to give visible awards for things like winning the quarterly GPA race, participating in service projects, winning contests, etc. The kids would add awards to their house shirts over the four years of high school, and the most participatory kids would be immediately evident, kind of like the Ohio State football helmets.
What springs to mind is military service ribbons: http://www.armysurplusworld.com/display.asp?subdepartmentID=202&sort=minPrice
I’m sure that many military people would recoil if we actually used those ribbons, so it would have to be something else. It would be cool if we could have different awards for different kinds of activities, instead of just one for everything, like Ohio State.
Anyone happen to know a good place to get low cost pins or ribbons for these kind of things? Of course, custom ones would be nice, too. Thanks!
