I’m actually fairly confident that if you asked the owner of the vehicle how many amendments there were to the constitution, he’d say 10.
Well, it’s tough to say. They both have an even number of hands.
Ooh, ooh!! Cool. Let’s do a poll as to which poster is the most given to insane levels of tedious, nitpicking, right-wing bias dressed up in the guise of legal expertise!
I think it’s adorable that lil’ Bricker thinks I give a shit what he thinks. It seems like every week we get another post of “Wow, I used to think that Bricker was the reasonable conservative type but instead it turns out that he’s just another right-wing trog with a slightly better vocabulary, I used to respect his opinon blah blah”.
I was just ahead of the curve and recognized it a hell of a long time ago.

It’s certainly true that every week either you or Hentor posts something along those lines.
Not I. I haven’t seen that trog’s posts (directly) in years.

In the spirit of the contributions of John Mace and Bricker to this thread, I am tempted to go and pull such comments from myself and Merijeek and demonstrate that your assertion is factually incorrect as to the rate.
But who has the time?
He was wearing clothes and his hair was neat and combed.
OK, so, a tie on the handedness thing. Still a runaway victory for John on the reasonableness issue.
There probably are. But I was talking to one particular individual who didn’t.
So, no, I won’t stop and let someone else have the final word when they’re demonstrably wrong. If that bothers you, then you should stay the fuck out of this forum.
Thank you. EVERY political argument is like this. Reality itself has become soft - a thing to be rules-lawyered, nit-picked and torn apart until some tiny part can be said to kinda-sorta support the argument that the person wants to make. That part is then hoisted upon their shoulders and paraded around in victory. I generally don’t get involved with such discussions, as ppl who hold positions that go counter to the majority of the facts, or who have to look at the facts* just so* to support their viewpoint don’t generally want to be disabused of their notions. See: any anthropomorphic climate change discussion.
Ha ha, you’re an awesome dumbshit! You think there are only three people in the whole world who are brothers!
What an idiot!
See how that goes?
Yes, you’re right, perhaps I was too generous in ruling out the 100% nonsense interpretation, given the intellects that are apparently involved.
Yes, that’s a really good one.
The point is that whether you like it or not, the Bill of Rights is a real thing that comprises 10 amendments, and it’s common enough for people to refer to it as its own entity that you aren’t obligated to read that statement as implying “the other nine (in the Constitution)” any more than you’re obligated to read a million other potentially ambiguous constructions in ways that make them seem stupid.
If somebody says that he liked A Perfect Day for Bananafish more than the other eight stories, you can pretend that you believe that he thinks there are only nine stories in the whole world if you like, but you’ll look pretty silly trying to point it out to anybody else.
Oh dear… you’ve caught me out, I really dislike the fact that there are 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights. I really didn’t feel like that quartering troops business really ought to have been in there. It’s been getting in my craw since somewhere around 1987 and I’m still a little sensitive talking about it, so if we could just not dwell on that more than absolutely necessary I’d really appreciate it.
Even so… it only makes “THE other NINE amendments” possible. Not the 11th or 17th or the 21st? It’s still an ignorant statement even under your exceedingly generous interpretation.
Addressed above:
Well, hell. Why are we even assuming that he or she is referring to the US Constitution?
Maybe this pertains to this person’s bowling league charter.
I’m not sure what the fuss is about in this thread.
The first Ten Amendments were the Work of God.
The remaining so-called “amendments” were forced on us by Satan-worshipping crypto-Islamic homosexual baby-killing communists, who weren’t even born in This Country.
I thought all patriotic Americans knew this much.
I had no idea Hanz v Louisana generated this much ire today.
I say the same thing about the first Amendment and people call me names.
Best wishes,
