Awesome Piano Improvist

And I don’t mean jazz. I just had to share.

I think they did the hold music at my bank. Sounds just like that. Never resolves.

It never really seems to go anywhere. Even the loosest improvs usually have an underlying motif of some kind to hold the thing together.

Yep, you both have kinda hit on what pandiatonic music sounds like.

It’s a successful improvisation. It’s not my usual kind of music, but it’s really well done. I was going through Richard Grayson’s other improvisations, and he’s pretty awesome. I especially enjoyed the James Bond and Pink Panther as a double fugue.

That one is really cool.

Nice. Although it sounded more like a two- or three-part invention than a double fugue.

Eh, close enough for an improv. Yes, I’d agree, but inventions and fugues are similar enough that he caught the spirit of a double fugue. In an improvisational context, you have to admit that it’s going to be near-impossible to improvise a proper fugue. It’s not quite an invention or a sinfonia, either–just a counterpuntal work in a Baroque style.
