B-24 color scheme

I’m building a 1/72 B-24 model and, although the paint directions call for olive green, I want to do mine in that tan color one frequently sees them painted with.

Google isn’t being very forthcoming, so I’d like to know what a good color to paint it would be.

You need to research bomber groups that used the B-24 and pick the paint scheme you like best.

I have plenty of reference pics, but I want to know if there’s some specific color they used to get that tan. I have an idea for a mix, but I want to know if there’s any way I can save myself some trouble.

But thanks, guys.

Olive drab, which is what you say you don’t want.

A paint guide which may give you some name suggestions.

The 15th Air Force sometimes used a color known as “desert tan.” I think that’s a fairly common modeler’s paint as well.

A close match is FS 30219 - I don’t recall the name, but it’s the tan used on Vietnam era Air Force aircraft, so it’s very easy to find that shade in model shops.

Excellent; I’ll look into that.

It’s beautiful: of those three links you gave me, Ringo, two had already “turned gray with use.” That first one, however, is fantastic. I’ve been having trouble finding shots of the interior. Most useful. Thanks.
