B.C. & Wizard of Id 8/26

Any idea why both strips referring to 85-year-old noses today?

Isn’t the 85th aniversary of the 19th amendment? Not that that really helps any…

Got a link to Wizard of Id? I read B.C. in my paper this morning and had no idea what it was about (but I do sometimes think Johnny Hart has gone off the deep end).

I’ve no clue regarding the nose thing. Let’s see, who or what is known for noses? Aside from Jimmy Durante (who is, among other things, not 85 years old at the moment)?

Just checked famoustbirthdays.com, and nobody (famous) was born on 8/26/20.

My best guess would be something to with evolution (knowing Johnny’s fundamentalism) but I really can’t explain it.

Wizard of Id cartoonist Brant Parker was.

That must be it, thanks.

Only thing else I could find was that Chic Young got his first newspaper job in 1920 so I had been thinking it might be a tie-in to the Blondie anniversary.

I was wondering why you bolded “B” until I noticed the BC strip says “Happy Birthday B” on the bottom.

Pretty obscure in-joke to be the subject of a strip.

Just goes to show how much anyone pays attention to BC these days.

Talk about obscure, check out Blondie today.
The King of Id is introduced.

Is it some kind of anniversary for lame comics? I wonder what’s going on in Tumbleweeds today?

It was Blondie’s 75th anniversary recently, prompting all manner of comic strip crossovers. This was my favorite.

I thought the King of Id and JC Dithers bit worked rather well today.

For a 75 year old comic, Blondie still has more hits than misses.

Medium Large is always funny.
