That’s because you’ve gone about this the entirely wrong way. Pitting someone is a Fairly Big Thing. What **glee ** did, intentional or not, is not commensurate with that. What you should have done, as has been mentioned several times in this thread, is merely mention it in the thread in question - not bring it to the Pit. If glee had then responded, “Yeah, I did misattribute your quote - fuck off” (or some similar response), then you’d be fine to open a Pit thread - but he didn’t.
The Pit is not for a casual Festivus Airing of Grievances that everyone will have a big laugh over tea next week. It’s to rake someone over the coals, and flay them to an extent that they will think twice about ever crossing you again. Misattributing a quote - because it is so easily to do - doesn’t necessitate such an extreme action.
Which is why your continued banner-carrying in this thread is even more catastrophic to your SDMB integrity. You have refused to re-raise the issue in the original thread, you’ve refused to back down, you’ve refused temper this conflagration. Nearly everyone in this thread has said that it’s a non-issue - that what **glee ** did was most obiviously a simple error of oversight.

I think this is maybe a case of blind fury, or more like fury with one eye closed. I believe Snake has a legitimate beef, but it is perhaps unfocused and off target. He has been treated with nothing but continous contempt, condecension, and disrespect for his beliefs. He isn’t the one who first stooped to character assasinaton and indefensible allegations and insults, he never instigated this. It’s the same old thing- there is a contigent of bullies and assholes here that resort to personal attacks in debating now they get pissed when they’re called out and exposed. The old guard here is contemptable and deserving of this pitting. (Ya know the first time I ever got into a debate Glee called me a Putz! I never said anything to provoke that kind of response and didn’t even know him. It is just typical of the lack of respect he shows in debating people. He resorts to off point exaggeration and insults all to often…It ain’t clever or witty or funny it’s just plain mean and ugly.)
That’s because he’s been completely unable to defend his beliefs, and when pressed for answers, resorts to childish word-games and taunts. When he’s stuck for an answer, he declares victory. When he can’t answer an objection, he pretends that the poster has said something other than what he’s actually said. I can’t count the number of times he’s pulled the “deliberately obtuse” ploy. How he’s managed to survive the “don’t be a jerk” rule is, frankly, quite a mystery.

And it seems to me that *you * have a problem with credulity, in as much as you claim the ability to detect land mines by becoming “aware” of them, and then claim to have been injured by a land mine. In a thread where people are bandying about the word dickless, you casually mention that you are, in fact, dickless. You explain it as a result of “missing a land mine.” Later, in another thread, you claim the ability to detect land mines that the sweepers had missed! I would think that, of all the people in the world, a man who can tell where land mines are simply be sensing them would be the least likely to have his dick blown of by one; and yet, here you are making that claim. It strains belief to the breaking point.
