Ba-dee-ya, Rantin' in September (monthly mini rants)

Our Walmart has lots of Jif, Smooth. Nobody seems to have any crunchy except Sprouts expensive organic. So, I am happy, DH is not. Why yes, we do have to stock two kinds of PB. We are both too stubborn to switch.

It’s been many, many months since I’ve been able to score a large jar of our local grocery store’s brand of crunchy peanut butter. They are frequently out of the mid-size jars too. The smooth variety seems to be in fairly good stock. It’s a mystery.

I finally resorted to Googling it around day six. (I knew the song, had never known what its title was.)

Amazon turned out to be the best option because I had very specific requirements for a credit card wallet so it was good to browse through many different ones to find exactly what I needed. Say what you will about Amazon, but they have a LOT of stuff!

Sounds vaguely obscene. :grinning:

Vas ist dis Sqvinchah?

Apparently, Sqwincher is what plants crave, because it has electrolytes.

Thanks that actually was a big part of the problem. ‘Doing this gets me more points so I can see how it helps me. But what does it do for the caller?’

I think of it as sort of a better-tasting industrial version of Gatorade. Got ninja’d on the link.

My doc was out of town or she might have done just that.

The clueless ER doc (who a. had never c heard of the other antiviral, and b. thought they were all placebo) did refer me for monoclonal antibodies - interestingly, if I’d been on Paxlovid, they would not have put me on the list.

Got the mAbs today - just in time to hear that my son’s PCR was positve, a n d in time to drive the housemate to do her test The CVS is our home away from home this week!

Try a teleheath visit - when I told my husband to check that out, Friday, ge literally had a scrip underway within an hour.

Interestingly, the covid group that did my scrip for my antiviral had visibility into the pharmacy’s stock - important to me as this place does a bad job of handling that (another tale) - so I knew I’d be ok. As for cost: I think the cost of the drug is still funded by the government.

Peanut butter update for anyone who’s in or around Durham NC—I was at Food World yesterday, and they have huge two-packs of Jif (regular or extra crunchy).

Well it’s good to know Jif is still making crunchy, so maybe someday it will make it to Texas; gives me hope anyhow. Thanks!

Update

My shikseh took me to Shoprite.

I got home and realized I forgot to buy horseradish sauce.

I know it’s been a whole thing but I was just relaxing and watching a stream on Twitch when this jerk starts spouting off about “CANON” and “disrupting the logical purity of the story” in regards to the Rings of Power Amazon series. No one asked and no one wants to talk about it while we’re watching Dino Crisis. If you’re that inflamed and irritated by the whole thing, maybe go take a walk or listen to some music or something? Life’s too short, buddy.

I hate football season. Mostly that’s a leftover from when I was growing up and my entire family (except me) would spend all day Sunday and all Monday night screaming at the TV set. My mom knew when each of the broadcast channels had their sports stories, so she’d flip from channel to channel during dinner from Sunday through Tuesday.

And now I hate it because, goddamnit, it’s delaying 60 Minutes. Why can’t they play a football game within the scheduled time? Has that ever happened?

There was always the infamous Heidi Game.

In case you don’t want to read the article…

The Heidi Game or Heidi Bowl is the name given to a 1968 American Football League (AFL) game between the Oakland Raiders and the visiting New York Jets. The contest, held on November 17, 1968, was notable for its exciting finish, in which Oakland scored two touchdowns in the final minute to win the game 43–32. However, a decision by the game’s television broadcaster NBC to break away from its coverage on the East Coast to broadcast the television film Heidi caused many viewers to miss the Raiders’ comeback.

Yay! So far here, there’s only been creamy, but this is great news!

Yes, I know that’s why. But they’re bloody well just now (at 20 to 8) saying that they’re starting the FOURTH QUARTER. They’re not even CLOSE to the end of the game. They’re going to be another 2 hours at this.

Very bad planning I suppose.

I cheered for who ever was ahead when the NFL was on Fox. I wanted the game to end and Animation Domination to begin.

My neighbor’s cat has responded to my return from vacation by killing a small bunny (I saw/heard it on my doorbell camera ) and leaving its haunches in the flower bed out front. I’m assuming the front end was presented to his family, but the cat spent all afternoon lounging under my Jeep, so I’m slightly worried that he might have stashed it under there.

I’m hoping the crows will take care of this in the morning. They’re really good about cleaning up the mice he sometimes leaves on the steps.
