Babalu Aye Day is Today

In Cuba’s santeria religion african saints are associated with catholic saints, and Babalu Aye is tied to Saint Lazarus, whose day falls on December 17th. The traditional observance for Babalu Aye begins on the night of the 16th with offerings of corn, wine, and bread. You might also want to wear black, brown, or purple, or maybe all three. But if you missed last night’s vigil it is not too late, you can make an offering before midnight today and still gain favor, Babalu Aye is not a jealous saint, not like that psycho Changó.

By the way Babalu Aye is known as the Father of the World, and his domain is diseases and pestilence, so if you have an infection that needs healing now is the time to do something about it. Other than seeing a doctor and taking antibiotics of course, you have to cover all your bases.
