Babs -- Achieving a Lifetime of Crap

I know it was a couple of days ago, but I can’t stop thinking about the Golden Globes, and Barbra Streisand winning the Lifetime Acheivement Award. It was a half-hour of my life I will never get back.

God, Shirley MacLaine standing up there rambling on and on about how great her dear friend Barbra is, and making the same stupid jokes about her past lives. Yeah, Shirley, we all know you’re a fruitcake, no need to remind us.

And, oh, the clips! Clips from Ms. Streisand’s fabulous film career. BOOOOOORING!! I really don’t like musicals to begin with, and her voice does nothing for me. And then her oh-so-damned-sappy dramas. Yuck.

The camera cuts back and forth between Shirley and Barbara, and I’m thinking, “Have two uglier people ever been given so much continuous screen time during any Hollywood event?”

Any Streisand fans out there that can explain the appeal?

Well, I used to like her back when she was a goofy Brooklyn goil with a good set of pipes. But now she thinks she’s Norma Shearer on a silver platter . . . That sort of thing loses its charm quickly.

What, was your remote control broken?

I completely agree. I don’t want any of those ugly people on my TV; I have a right to see nothing but the fabulous at Hollywood events. In fact, I think the camera should have stayed on Denzel Washington all evening. Give me gorgeous people! The thinner the better!

Personally, I find any Hollywood award shows to be boring. They should be banned.

Grammys
Emmys
American Music Awards
The Billboard Music Awards
The Tonys
MTV Awards
The Country Music Awards
The Daytime Emmys

There are more, but geez enough with the award shows already, by my calculations, that’s about 24 hours of award shows I have listed. What’s next? The Award Show Network?
