babseball tradition question, 1st base

Okay, I tried this before in regards to Cecil’s columns… but I didn’t get an answer and it goes beyond the question he answered. In loo of all the great baseball questions asked recently I am going to add to the GQ with another.

Baseball tradition: At the end of an inning a baseball is always thrown to the exiting first baseman from the dugout.

Though I have begun to wonder… “yah, but WHO throws the ball to the first baseman?”

So my question is, is it the same guy who throws the ball everytime? And is it a certain position (like it’s the team’s first base coach)?

We just did this question less than a month ago. A search in GQ or Cecils Columns should surface the thread.

Short answer, IIRC, it’s usually one of the base coaches.

Yar we did this question about a month ago. I know this cause it was done by me ! And no, the answer was never resolved. Not resolved well anyways. More info would be nice if anyone knows. Gracias.

I’m confused? Why didn’t you post in the original thread?

Closed.

Sorry, sweets, but one thread per question. Sorry no one answered it to your satisfaction. Life ain’t perfect.
