Baby nicknames

I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone mispronounce my name (Paula), but, man, in first grade you should have seen the ways it was misspelled on Valentine’s Day cards. With only five letters, the variations were amazing.

Hell, how are they gonna enforce it when he starts preschool? I was certain that my daughter would be Michaela and nothing but, for life.

After a week in daycare, she was Kayla.

She’s still Kayla to me at 26, but most of her contemporaries now call her Mikky (I think I spelled that right).
