Baby on the Way!

Yes, that’s the news I got when I came home from work this evening. It turns out that baby Paprika is getting his own bed, because Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper (or is it Mrs. Salt and Mr. Pepper?) will be having a new little baby. According to the Olethlings[sup]TM[/sup] this is true, and Mrs. ShibbOleth stands by their story.

So what do you think they will name the newest little spice or condiment? We like Baby Saffron.

Saffron is nice but I think it’s gonna be a boy.

Baby Basil?
Baby Dill? (But Dill is really already taken by Tommy’s brother…)
Baby Sage?

I though Paprika was a girl!

Ginger would be nice if it’s a girl too.

Dag! You’re right, Paprika is a girl. The feminine ending should have given that away. My mistake. It will probably be a boy, television writers like balance. Also should be something which kids can pronounce without confusion.

what in the sam hill are you people talking about?

Twist, I’m guessing you don’t have many in the 4-8 year old demographic living near you?

Blue’s Clues, Blue’s Clues,
Ya gotta find the first paw-print,
That’s what you do…

-Rue. (Who likes Bob, the Builder much better.)

(Can we do it?
Yes! We can!
)

Well, I have 2 nephews and a Niece, and only the youngest nephew fits into that demographic (he’s 3). He’s more of a Bob the Builder fanatic.

Funny, I kind of picture Rue and Steve as separated at birth.

Although the littlest Olethling[sup]TM[/sup] is apparently a big BtB fan (he sings this song alot) I haven’t seen that one. He’s in the 2-4 demographic. Blue’s Clues, Dora the Explorer, Bob the Builder, Sagwa, Thomas the Train Engine and Samurai Jack are his current favorites.

Bob the Builder’s theme song was made into a big pop hit in Europe for a while last year, so I have heard the song.

huh? i can’t make heads or tails out of this stuff.
shouldn’t it be Dr. Pepper and Mrs. Dash?
Mr. Pibb and Mrs. Butterworth?

what the %$#& are you talking about?

I think Saffron is great! It’s the most valued spice in the world, isn’t it?

I didn’t know my son had ever seen Blue’s Clues until we were at a bookstore and he saw a book. “BoosCoos! Booscoos!” I believe I am the only american mother of a toddler who has never seen the show. It must be on during the day as opposed to after school/early morning. Otherwise maybe I’d have caught it.

Pssst, Shib–did you ever contact my friend about the au pair thing?

Oregano.

Cilantro, Basil, Cumin, Cinnamon…

…how about Wheat Germ?

I think we have a winner, li’l baby Basil. He can grow up to be a great sleuth, just like Blue. And it works nicely for a boy.

But think of the fun we could have if we could get them to mispronounce Cumin.

I think it is Dr. & Mrs. Pepper
I have two kids in the age demographic and I have never seen Blue’s Clues. I have however, have a secret crush on Tony from Out of the Box.

Hey! I said Basil way up there in reply number one! I even got up to look in my spice drawer!

I’m so underappreciated.

We appreciate you Sue. I only quoted ladyfoxfyre because she said “cumin” and she just had a thread that might cause you to read that word differently. You can have the prize for coming up with it first. I also like Dill quite a bit – Baby Dill has a snap to it, dontcha think? Me, I only come up with things like “MSG” or “Poultry Seasoning” or “Rubbed Sage”. Not very good baby names. That’s why I never refer to the Olethlings[sup]TM[/sup] by name in my posts. Poor little Lucretia and Aswipé take such a ribbing from the other kids at school.

[sub]that’s an awful lot of tapdancing for one post, no?[/sub]

OKAY! I have a feeling that no one is going to let me live down that thread.
Geez Shibb…

Okay, foxy, I’ll hijack my own thread and say this in here, where no one else will see it.

I really thought that the embarassing part was going to be that your Mom walked in while, you know.

And no, you may never live that one down. That’s one way to achieve fame on the Boards.

I really don’t have any witty spicey name suggestions…

I just wanted to wish you and your family a sincere congrats.
